Just got done rebuilding my 94 splash, 302/C6/NP205 6" lift 33" TSL's and 3:73 Gears.

Here's whats happening : My C6 is shifting fine 1-2-3 but in 3rd gear when i get up to 60 - 70 KM / HR my 302 is in the 3500 to 4000 RPM range, it's like i need to shift again. Like i said 33" TSL's and a gearing ratio of 3:73 should i be that high in the RPM range ? do i need to re-gear? change to a different T-case?

What do you guys think ? I'am sure someone has the same setup out there working for them.

I cant drive the thing at those RPM's something isn't right.

There is no way you're in 3rd gear at that speed. 3rd gear should have a 1:1 ratio, so if the engine is spinning at 3500 rpm, then the driveshaft is also spinning at 3500 rpm. 3.73 gears means the tires are spinning at 938 rpm (3500/3.73 = 938). 33" tires have a circumference of about 103", so with every revolution of the tire, you're traveling 103 inches. Multiply that by 938, and you're traveling 96,614 inches per minute, which converts to 91 mph. No freakin way.

Either your speedometer is way off, your tach is way off, or you have the axle gear ratio wrong, or your transmission is not shifting into 3rd gear. Those are the only possibilites.

Assuming 2nd gear has a ratio of 2:1 (I have no idea what the actual ratio is), 3500 rpm would mean you're going about 46 mph, which is about 72 kph. So I'd say the most likely problem is you're actually in 2nd gear, not 3rd.

OK here we go.......... after checking numerous possibilities this is what i came up with.

The c6 was not shifting into 3rd Cause was not enough vacuum, i road tested after relocating to a direct source off the intake, problem solved, i have 3rd now.

Still no speed .

As stupid as it sounds and after studying my spare NP205, it turn's out i was actually in low gear, :shok: the way i reworked my T-case shifter, putting it into 2-hi was actually 4-lo, it's backwards.

So this gives me better speed, but we are not there yet!

Fact: I do have 3rd
Fact: I do have 3:73 Gears
Fact: I do have a 2500 stall torque converter

I'm getting close, what's happening now is Got it going to 80-90KM/HR which is better, but RPM's are at 3000.
I almost forgot, my speedo is about 10KM's off, so at 100KM's/HR i'm at 3000RPM does this sound about right, with a 2500 stall converter?
