What do you guys think i should do?

An hour drive is a bit much considering you don't know if it actually works or not... and if you don't have an existing setup you won't know whether or not it works until you install it. I bought a Midland 1001Z: http://www.buy.com/prod/midland-1001z-40-channel-mobile-cb-radio-with-pa/q/loc/111/90131705.html

It was only like $30 bucks, and its been a great radio for me. The Cobra you showed is also a good radio, but I'm leary of it being broken or having something wrong with it, you just don't know until you install it.

The Midland 1001Z is a great radio for occasional use, I've gotten 6+ miles of talking range out of it with a 4ft firestik on a hood mount. People always say you get what you pay for, however the Midland is a great radio. It doesn't have as many features as the Cobra, but it has R/F Gain and Squelch, and that's about all you need.

Find a truck stop and get your self one for 30-40 bucks. Keep in mind you still need cable $8, antennae $15, and antennae mount $10.

i picked it up, as i didnt see these posts till now. it works, but i have no antenna yet. i also dont know where to mount it. any ideas?

If you get a whip antenna the roof is a pretty common place. If you go with a firestik type one you could mount it to the bed like I did mine (but you have a tonneau cover so that would be a pain) or the hood mount type look pretty decent too.

or make a bracket like I did and mount it here:

i actually read up on your build of that and seriously like it! how tall should i go? and was there and modifications or drilling to run the wire?

another thing,

i cant find a place to mount the radio, and i dont want holes in my dash, but i wanna be able to see it. so under my seats wont work. (the truck is 2 months old to me and only 25,000ish miles)

Crappy picture, but gives you an idea where I have my radio. Outta the way, no cutting or anything, just slide in.

Mounted mine Same place as Nathan. Works good, out of the way, easy to hide wires, etc.

Just remember you have to tune that antenna's SWR. I didnt look at the set your getting but if its not tuneable you have to use an SWR meter. Either borrow one or get on from the SHACK. Here is how to do it
http://www.rightchannelradios.com/pages/video-guide-step-by-step-tuning-instructions-pv-c0-90.html

Edit: Dont skip this step I have seen tons of radios that didnt work worth a crap 2 blocks away but when tuned shot out for crazy miles. Also measure from your set to the antenna and get the shortest possible coax cable, if there is extra dont bunch it up randomly make a nice coil. And make SURE you ground it exellently or that will kill your performance too.
