I have an 85 ranger that I conv to 2.9 with a 4in. sus and 2in. body on 33's, i just picked up a 95 mustang Gt 302 and want to upgrade my front and rear to 95-98 explorer 8.8 4.10, i know a guy that has front and rear in four explorers, 95, 96, 97, 98, he said i can take what i need for $400 off any of them, i read up on how to convert the rear, but i want to make sure i take everything i need of the front. My question is what all besides d35 diff, axles, spindles, hubs and brakes do i need? Both I-beams or just driverside wear it bolt up.

i *think* they switched to IFS in 95. i dont think any of them have what you are looking for as far as the front axle is concerned.

I second kunar - a 95 and newer Exploder has IFS. Nothing useful to you in the front end.

Then what is the strongest front diff i can put in my I- beam, and does it come with 4.10 gears, and from what donor

d35 ttb is what you want. getting one from an early 90's 2.3 ranger is your best bet i think.

i did find a 91 explorer with 8.8 3.73 and Twin I-beam, if I used that would I just take what i listed along with the I-beams or im I missing something, id like to get that 95 and up explorer rear end and find a I-beam diff to match its 4.10 gears

do you know if those early 90's come in 4.10, and at that point I should take the rear end off the same donor, but from what i've read the 31 spline that explorers have is the way to go with my 302 that will be in there

it's the early 90's that have the best chance of having 4.10's from what i've heard. they are not the only ones with a d35 though.

for the rear, rangers will have either a 7.5 or a 28 spline 8.8, explorers have a 31 spline 8.8 and 95 and up explorers have disc brakes.

so if i took front and rear off an early 90's that was 8.8 with 4.10 and my 302 blows my 28 then at that point i could upgrade to 31 and deal with the perch relocate and weld stuff that or early 90's front and 95 and up rear 4.10, so what do i take off the front of the early 90's diff, axles, spindles and hubs or more?

so the diff, axles, spindles and hubs from the early 90's but the d35's have a bigger bolt pattern, so what else do i take, both I-beams?

i read the dana 28 _ 35 axles swap thing but i cound't firgure out what he meant,

All six shafts... i thought there was only three, driver side, pass. side, and pass. to diff the middle one, and i take the spindles to right

he's probably talking about each piece individually if you were to remove all of the u-joints. keep in mind your front drive shaft will have to be shortened. (1-1.5"?)
