what do i take off the front of an explorer

oh ok , thank you, i'm going to go with the D35 from 90-97 Ranger or 91-94 Explorer with 4.10, so is this right the diff both I-beam's, axles, spindles, hubs, bearings, and rotors

Correct, Get a Explorer OR 4.0 ranger front end so there is no question as to IF its the bastard child d35 with d28 guts.

I printed out the rear axles codes, is there a code list for front axles also or does the rear one say the same

...getting one from an early 90's 2.3 ranger is your best bet i think...

2.3l front D35's are actually a D35 housing with D28 gears... No upgrade there... Look for a D35 from an Explorer or a 4.0l Ranger... They had the true D35 and not the "hybrid"...

Bean, the hybrid axle didn't even exist from 90-92.

Since the beam length is different between d28 and a d35 you will also need the inner tie rods for the d35. The calipers may be different depending on what year d35 you get.

The calipers on the Explorer are larger with dual pistons - you'll want them also. If you can get the 97-98 Explorer rear axle assembly, it will have the disc brakes as well as 31spline axles.

If you can just get anything you want out of the front... unbolt the beams from the x-member, unbolt d-shaft, unbolt the rad-arm bracket... disconnect the shocks from arms, take the brake lines off at the frame, and just slide that whole chunk of metal, Beams, coils, brakes, arms, everything together, into the back of your truck :-) Then its like a bolt in :)

I don't know where you live, but I have a D35 with 4.10's in it I'd be willing to part with for about $100, the whole setup if you want it, just come pull it out of the truck! I'm located in Central NY (13069).

Hey im back, I found a rear diff from a 02' ranger w' 4.10 witch is all they had that year and what i wanted, no disc brakes but for $250 im pretty happy, since is a bolt in plus has the Torsen LS. I still need the front and i thinking of taking it all out of a 94 ranger a found with a true D35 but 3.73 then i guess buy a ring and pin, and i live in oregon so to the guy from NY, no can do. I dont know much and lockers but would a front locker kit come in 4.10 and be all i need besides the 94 ranger w3.73 D35 parts?
