I was just decoding my VIN, it seems I have a 1995 Ranger 4x2... Cool that’s what the title says at least...
here’s where stuff gets weird, it’s a flareside with faded brilliant red paint and outlines of splash stickers, cool I’ve got a 1995 Splash..!!!
R10 = 4x2.... mine is 4x4..???
S = 1995.... mine has 94 Interior..???

The door sticker is long gone so no help from the jamb gods, so can someone explain all this to me..??? I basically have a 1995 standard cab Splash 4x4 with manual transmission and the UGLY 1994 Interior...???

I've never seen a 4x4 Splash, I thought they were all 4x2.

Someone may have done a 4x4 conversion, or swapped frames.

I go nothing on your interior.

I've seen a Splash 4x4. In high school like 94 or 95 a guy had one another guy had the same one in 2wd both red or orange with dark interior. Never saw the vins tho.pretty sure he got it from Dothan Alabama or panama city florida. Somewhere in the north florida area for sure.

I'm pretty sure mine was 4x4 from the factory. I'll try to check tomorrow.

The one I knew of was an extended cab.

I’m more interested in why it’s got the older interior..? I heard once before that the splash models got the leftovers from the previous years trucks, to me that would explain why it’s a 95 that should’ve had the updated interior but since it’s a splash it’s got the 94 interior. I’m also guessing with the older interior the firewall harness is the same as pre 95’s also..? I’d love to do an interior swap on this thing but I’m not sure it’s going to be that easy now...☹️ When I search online for 95 parts it always brings up the newer stuff and not the older stuff, it’s so aggravating... thanks for the replies everyone..??

Anyone else have any ideas..? Does anyone think the firewall plugs would be 94 or 95 up..? I’d love to swap interior but don’t want to deal with the different plugs and stuff...☹️

After thinking about it, my old boss did have a 95, ex cab, 4x4 Splash. I don't often think about the Splash part because he had the original Splash decals removed and replaced with custom Pink Floyd ones.

It did have the proper 95 interior.

How different is a 94 from a 95?

Different.

Different front brakes, different wiring, different computer, different firewall, different everything attached to the firewall.

The 94 and earlier models had the older square dash, the 95 and up have the current ranger style dash, door panels are a bit different and the seats are kinda different as well. Also the headliners are different (found that out the hard way)... but the cab and doors and body looks the same as all other 1995-1997 models...
I believe in 98 the cab was stretched a few inches for more leg room in the standard cab trucks.
Pre 95 trucks had a different firewall wire harness plug and obviously a different harness and computer location, and the 4x4 control module was mounted directly behind the driver taking up precious cargo space that was barely there anyway...

I don’t know he exact years of the highrider edition but mine sat really high in the rear on stock suspension components, although the front coils had definitely sagged quite a bit. I had to put 2.5” spacers in the front just to make it look decent and not so much like a 70’s era mullet sporting Camaro....

I mean I’m not complaining it was a 500 dollar truck that has served me very well going on 10-11 years now... just never really thought about the differences until I started looking for replacement interior parts and kept coming up with all newer parts unless I typed in 94 or 93 into the search instead of 95...

OK So outside looks similar but there are a lot of differences mechanically. Good to Know that 95 is a transition year.

I know there is a bright red 4x4 splash running around town. Never been close enough to see the interior though.

From what I can guess the 1995 (Splash Only) got the leftover 1994 interiors... bummer for me...☹️

You do have a rather rare truck though.

Kinda curious if you have the single piston or dual piston front calipers though.
