What did YOU do today?

DeWalt definitely still makes a 9" and I can find Makita, Metabo, Bostch, and various no name brand grinders for sale online.

I also see various grinding wheels for the 9" from online supply houses. Norton and 3m.

To be honest, I feel like most people don't want a 9" grinder anyway because they are so heavy. I vary rarely use mine unless I have a lot of grinding to do on something that is laying flat. I bought it for running a massive wire wheel and cutting off 3" exhaust

My 9" came with a 7" guard incase I wanted to run smaller disks, but it's still heavy.
Weird. Couple years ago when I bought mine I couldn’t find hardly anything bigger than a 7” and I had a problem where I needed to cut some steel sheet on the wrong side of a 2.5” square tube. Couldn’t get at it from the other side because it was buried in asphalt.

It is a heavy beast for sure, I only use it when I need a big boy grinder and usually use 7” stuff on it unless I need the 9” stuff.

That's probably not necessary. The 9" discs become 7" in short order.

I also have some grinder battle scars lol. I had considered a bigger wheel on mine.. just as means to an end but yeah.. thought about it again and I'm all set 🤣

Torches someday for sure.. probably not this year though.
Yeah, the bigger wheels are definitely dangerous on the small grinders, I did it when it was all I had and could afford but I’m finding myself reluctant to take that route these days, lol.

Dad gave me my first torch set, it was his that he bought out of high school and rarely used after the first few years of having it. My other two sets I’ve sort of lucked into, went to buy something else and after striking a deal on what I came for, I asked what else they were looking to get rid of. Both times they hadn’t listed the torches yet and were willing to make a deal and both of them were bigger tanks than dad had so I use dad’s set as a semi-portable set and the other two as stationary sets, one is set up for Oxy/Acetylene and the other is set up as Oxy/Propane with a 100# propane tank.

True, but the 7” discs are more readily available without ordering them locally.

9" cut off wheel is certainly one of the sketchiest things out there.
I got some Pipeliner cutoff wheels for it in the 9” flavor, they’re thicker and sturdier than some of the other cutoff wheels for it, lol
