What did YOU do today?

So yesterday I took care of the passenger side bushing on the F-150. As suggested by @Curious Hound , I fished out a salmon/tuna tin I had, dished the middle in a bit to shorten the height without cutting it, put a hole in the middle, made a thin washer, and put it on for a heat shield. I put it after the big thick washer in the stack instead of under it like the factory heat shield and used my thin washer under the nut. Worked like a charm.

Then I fiddled with the brush hog and trying to help dad a bit with issues of his one lawn tractor (first mowing of the year with anything seems to find all sorts of random issues).

Edit your post, and just say a salmon tin. You don’t want people to think you’re cheap.

I reminded my wife that yesterday was the 54th anniversary of our first date. She was impressed even though she knows I remember numbers.
In 2016 I replaced the battery in my Mustang because the old one was 8 years old, yesterday I replaced the 10 year old Motorcraft with a Diehard because the dealer no longer stocks a group 35 since Ford hasn't used one for years. The Motorcraft cost me $95.96 with a 100 month warranty, the Diehard was $174.69 with 36 months, I guess that's some kind of progress. It had never failed me but if it had to be jump started I would have had to replace the cables because I couldn't stand having booster scratches on the terminals. I'm not anal, I'm particular.

Well, I completely understand. She is impressed with your command of arithmetic numbers, how many roses did you give her for your anniversary?

I don't give her flowers. I spend every day with her, she shouldn't need a gift, too.
Actually, we quit buying each other gifts years ago, we just go out to dinner to celebrate things.

If you were to need more bushings I bought the $17 polyurethane radius arm bushings from LMC for my Ranger and they turned out to be the made in the USA Energy Suspension ones, for what that's worth.
I have a set of bushings I can warranty and I thought about buying new bushings, but it all comes down to this truck really needs retired. There’s glitter in the T-case. The drivers door can’t be opened and it’s currently holding what’s left of the cab together. It just needs to be roadworthy enough to do what I need a big truck for long enough to get my F-350 back up and going. If stuff would stop breaking long enough for me to get back to working on the F-350 that is. The other part of things is that I’m not using the factory radius arm configuration on either truck, I’m going to long arms on both so I don’t need long lasting bushings. The ends will be Ballistic Joints from Ballistic Fab.

If it was a salmon tin, I ate the contents (home made salmon patties). If it was a tuna tin, mom’s cats ate the contents. They don’t like salmon or any wet cat food we tried, but they will eat tuna. Go figure.
