What did YOU do today?

I packed my stuff and loaded a bunch of the wife's junk in the truck. We should be in atlanta tomorrow night. Probably late, 1130 or so, but thats how it always is on this drive.

Googly says 15.7 hours but i think it doesnt count gas/food and restroom breaks

Thats our pit stop on the way to jacksonville nc. Then the next day we get there around 3 and can relax before dinner

Thats a great starter recumbent. Its an aluminum one or a steel frame? Looks like steel, which is perfect to learn on and absorbs shock really well.

If your butt starts going numb on mid to long rides, lesn the seat back a little farther back. Its to upright if you start having that issur
Thanks for the hints. Once I get better at riding it, I'll lean it back. I had read that a more upright position is more stable and easier to learn. That seems to be true. With the seat upright, I didn't fall at all yesterday. I don't have a lot of stamina, yet and found that I can't pedal up much of a hill, yet, either. It shows just how much damage my heart actually took. The short wheelbase makes it feel weird and in low speed turns where you actually have to turn the front wheel, I have to keep my heels from hitting the tire. That little event will distract a beginner and put him on the ground.

This model (Sun Speedster) came in 3 levels. SX - steel frame, lower level. CX - Chrome Molly frame, mid level. And AX - Aluminum Frame, the upper level. I got the AX. Originally sold for $1600. I got this for $190 and it seems to be in excellent condition. It's a higher grade than I will ever "need". But I have an appreciation for the quality of its components. Shifting is smooth and positive, it's quiet, disk brakes, etc. Only weighs about 36 lbs. And the seller was only about 8 miles away.

Nice. My friend brian has the mid level version of that bike and they are good bikes.

Heel strike will definitely put you down.

You have a short wheel base which is the hardest type to learn on but luckily, its a 20" front wheel so your legs are parallel to the ground. They also have short wheel base 26 and 700 recumbents so your feet are up and you sit really reclined, like on a lazy boy.

You will be good on that though. Try to ride at the same time each day for 21 days and it will become a habit for your body and then you will feel weird when you dont ride.

Hills are hard on a recumbent because you cannot use body weight to help, its all legs. You want to stay in a higher cadence than normal and especially when on hills until you build up the muscles. You will probably have to walk alot of hills for a while, its normal.

And soon you can do the shiner 100 miler and all the other fun rides around texas and all over the usa.

That is all truth. Doesn't matter how big and heavy I am. Just have to tone up the legs.

Haven't done much since I got back from last weekends adventure... Wednesday I went to visit one of our customers about 3 hours away, 6 hours of driving later I got home about 7:30 then hung out at home for a little bit then took the wife to the airport (~1.5 hours away) then got back home at 11:30, that was a long day! Then on Thursday I mowed most of the "yard" and cleaned the mower deck of some of the rotten grass that was on it, yesterday I continued with the mowing for a little bit until dusk then tore into the wife's car that needs starter work and a radiator, I got as far as draining the coolant into the gravel (weed deterrent) and the fan off and air box out... Gotta finish that later today.

a friend helped me replace the front strut assemblies on my wife`s 2015 Focus. not to bad of a job, took us 2 1/2 hours. car handles & rides better in my opinion. (y)

Eye doctor said I just scratched things a bit. No more debris, I managed to get everything out yesterday. Gave me some eye drops and said it should be fine in a day or two. So I’ve been resting because that feels the best. Hopefully back to normal tomorrow

Sold all my ranger wheels today, put a new power window motor/regulator assembly in the drivers door of the truck. Now I can roll it down without fear of it not going back up. Drivers door hinge pins are next, just not today.

After months of unfinished winch wiring i have connected my winch power cutoff switch to the switch panel and I replaced the EGR DPFE sensor. I didn’t know there was a problem till I changed it out. Smoothed the motor out from 20 to 50 mph. I did not have any codes in the ECU.

Started off by going to the guy I worked on a couple generators for last year, he couldn't get them started in the fall, on one I turned the gas on, choke on and it started first pull, the other was cranky and the choke linkage didn't move right, a spritz of WD40 and the choke closed and it started right up... to continue with the barter we're working on I picked up two blowers and two chainsaws to get running...

When I got home around noon I started mowing, finished what I started yesterday then moved to the wife's car, pulled the starter and found the solenoid was sticky and there was a bunch of brush dust in the motor so I cleaned and lubed that for now... The brushes have some life left before they're done, hopefully I'll do the engine swap here in a month... Also put the radiator in while I was there, filled it with water just to flush it for a bit, will drain and refill with coolant when I do the engine swap...

Then I jumped on the tractor and put the 3pt forks on and moved some stuff around then I jumped back on the riding mower and mowed where I moved stuff and it looks much better...

We made it to mongomery alabama. Houston killed me this morning. Usually it take 35 mins to get from sugerland to channelview, the opposites sides of houston. This morning it took a bit over 2 hours. There was nonstop roadwork and 4 lanes kept getting stuffed down to 2 lanes.

So i gave up on atlanta tonight. Its 2 hours away from where we are so that means we have 9 hours to go tomorrow instead of 7. Oh well.

Truck did great though. Comfortable and quiet with cruise set at 80. Best tank so far is 23mpg and worst is 21mpg.

And holy cow!!! I forgot how bad the love bugs are in east texas. My truck is all bugs on the front now. I had to stop and get the wiper at the gas station and scrub the windows because the sprayer and wipers wouldnt clean enough to see clearly.

Besides the Ranger stuff, I cleaned up mom's mower to get it running right again. There were leaves and pieces of hickory nuts under the tins on the engine, and the air filter was so stopped up it was running choked all the time. Then mowed her yard and my sister's across the road. Came home and mowed my yard (still gotta run the trimmer), then went to mexican with Brittney and mom.
