Well, I finally got those left and right last stage stainless exhaust pipes and exhaust tips for a 2019 Subaru WRX STI. 2.5 4cyl turbo that I’ve been looking for. These things are really heavy duty stainless steel with some massive pipe hangers, barely a mark on them, built like a brick outhouse. And the price was right in my budget: they were FREE!!! Apparently they were super loud on the Subaru and the boys in Blue suggested several times via side of the road certificates of award that the guy should remove them before they removed him and his license.
.
Actually, I have no idea what a 2019 Subaru WRX STI. 2.5 4cyl turbo is. I got these because I’ve been looking for some cool looking chrome tips since eventually I plan on putting dual exhausts underneath the Missing Linc. That little project is moving up in priority rapidly because little by little the old exhaust is kind of removing itself when I hit bumps and such.
I might not be able to use these Subaru pieces for that because the tips are just a little bit too massive, but I can mock them up and see. If they don’t look good with a mock up, I’m just going to put them up for sale. I’m sure somebody who’s got a tuner would bleed to get their hands on these things, they look pretty solid and exotic.
More in line with my usual exotic work, I also picked up a large diamond plate, trailer fender. I’ve been looking for one to use as the spare tire cover on the Road ‘Raith Kasket Kitchen. Pretty high quality, thick aluminum fender for $20, I’ll grab them every time.
When I got home, I just draped it over the 235/75/15 Road Ranger Spare just to get a visual. The spare for the ‘Raith will be a 185/65/14, so this would look like a circus tent over that. So now I’m thinking of just nipping the hang down in the back and the hang down in the front just enough that I could close down the diameter so it would look right over the 14 inches. Project for another day, but I grabbed it when it popped up.
I did all this driving around in the Missing Linc. Love the bright green dashboard, and some other things I did, absolutely hate the radio, it’s not going to last long. It works OK and it sounds OK, but I don’t like the way it looks, and I can’t see the controls or the display. But the next step will be getting some better speakers installed, and then keeping my eyes on craigslist and marketplace for a Radiohead.
Did I mention I love Craigslist and marketplace?
