What did YOU do today?

Packed a few more storage totes to go to the storage unit, and finished putting the sheets and blankets on the bed in the trailer as I was waiting for the mattress protector and heated mattress pad to show up...about a month away from living full time in a trailer. Had to sell the house due to poor financial choices, and things spiraling out of control. So I'm having to move from the home I've lived in for over 30 years so you can imagine the amount of stuff I have to go through and pack or toss out. Plus trying to work full time at the same time, its very hard and extremely exhausting.
I'm going thru a similar thing. I have to move from where I'm at. At least they gave me a years notice... I have a lot of stuff to sell and donate and scrap out...

Installed a 1.5" lift on the wife's wrangler

Here it is when it was stock when we got it a few years ago

Went to the Trader Joe's with my wife. The Kobalt tool box on my truck is essentially its trunk, and it just feels good to close the lid on four large cooler bags and two paper sacks full of groceries, and toss a 3rd behind the seat. My Ranger is a standard cab, so having that enclosed, lockable space is great. Honestly, I wouldn't be able to do a lot without it.

I was really reluctant to put a cap on my green Ranger because I liked the look of it without the cap, but practicality won out. Even with the extended cab, having a bit of dry, lockable storage is nice. My F-150 is a regular cab and I have two long side boxes and a cross box on it. There’s often still not enough dry storage.

I can't say I haven't thought about it, but at least with my truck's tailgate there's no lock, so it would be less secure than I'd like.

Sounds like you could use a utility bed for that F-150!

We have moto metal wheels in the garage and some goodyear wrangler all terrains to put on. I just have to refinish the wheels

Well, the rebuild is sort of going to address that. I’m intending on either building a custom utility bed or trying to buy one. I heard of a company that makes low profile utility beds that will work with 5th wheel hitches. I think that’s the direction I’d like to go with it. Of course it’s also getting 1-ton axles and 37-44” tires plus a few other goodies. I like how well it’s worked out for me so far, but I think it’s time to level up again. Need to fix the dump truck first though.

A cap on a truck turns the truck into a very low quality van.
My problem is I need both an open bed and a van or something. An aluminum cap is possible to take on and off the truck without help and really easy with two people to gain an open bed. Not so easy to do that with a van. Things may get reconfigured when I get more of my fleet back online though.

3 of my newest chickens (got in september) have started laying so made preparations for them to move to the building with the rest of the older birds, have a roost for them now & as soon as it thaws out long enough to give the chicken house a good cleanout I will have all the chickens in the same spot. Need to retire a few of my originals, Will have 20 chickens and some of them no longer contribute, might just give them to the local amish. Waiting on taxes to come back, have some possibilities for my next truck. If it doesn’t disappear there’s a ‘89 1/2 ton longbed I really like. Got the salt off my escape, was quite a mess.

What should have been a straight-forward replacement of outer tie rods and speed sensors took the weekend. Just headaches. One of the speed sensors snapped off with almost no pressure, so that was fun. The other one, broke off the plastic insert, that was equally fun. Took one of the dust guards off, 2/3 bolts snapped. All with minimal pressure.

And one of the outer tie rods lock nuts...was...not...budging. I broke it free to put on the new one, but for adjustment I hope the local alignment shop has better luck.

Slept in which was nice then went to lunch with the wife and harbor freight was next to where we went, ended up with one of the hydraulic wire crimpers to try at work and probably use on my moms golf cart soon, and a free magnet bar since there was a coupon... Then got home and started working on the camper again (not the one I'm getting rid of, the one I use), got the nerve to do the aluminum welding which went better than I'd feared (aluminum isn't my favorite) but still not pretty for most of the welds but way better than the hopes and dreams it was living on... So far I got the rear window reinstalled and the front fiberglass panel contact cemented on, going to keep tinkering for a little bit tonight.

Checked air pressure, fluid levels in all 4 trucks. ( A weekly ritual).

Watched the Superbowl.

My brother needed to borrow my F350 tomorrow morning so I did the right thing and just before dark checked to see if it would start... turns out no... so I put a battery charger on it, apparently one of the batteries is below the other and dragging it down... and conveniently mice have been dragging hazelnuts into the hood which should be fun to remove sometime...
