What did YOU do today?

Saw the in-laws for a Thanksgiving get together. Pretty nice all around. Used the daughter's Focus, it's not a bad little car. I laugh thinking it has the same 2.3 that many Rangers have.

A focus is likely a Duratec not a Lima, the wife rolled her Focus like 10 years ago so I don't remember much about the engine...

Today was a mixed bag... my brother came late morning and we started the mudding process on the drywall, got the first pass done and put a space heater in then took a break to go to a couple stores, nothing really at Lowes but at Harbor Freight I picked up one of the welding tables they had on sale... it's quite the unit and should make fitment much nicer on stuff, assuming I can avoid using it as a generic flat spot like all the rest... also grabbed another purple HVLP spray gun since they were $9... I think I have 5...

Then we got home and the first coat wasn't dry so instead of sanding we used putty knives to take the high spots off which actually worked good... then put on the second coat. After that we brought out the big guns to get it to dry... put the output of the diesel turbo heater toward the door, it was about 115F in there :), it dried pretty good in most spots, door's closed right now so it should keep on it...

damn. 150 bucks just to mount and ballance tires you already bought? what tire shop did you go to that doesnt even kiss you afterwards?

it is a pain to use, but Harbor Freight has a manual tire balancer for about 50 bucks...

AJ

We have the manual tire changer from Harbor Freight. Had it for nearly 20 years. It's saved us thousands. My old tires were too cold and stiff to remove on our contraption without completely maiming the aluminum wheels. I don't always get my tires balanced unless they present a vibration or wobble, but they were already charging me so much, I just decided I might as well have them balanced for not much more money. I even took the old tires with me hoping to save on the tire disposal fee but it wasn't even listed on my receipt.

Neal Tire.

My bad. I thought I had read they put the duratecs into Rangers.

Yesterday, I planned to do some yard work. But, it was 46, foggy, and drizzling. So, I bailed on the yard work and took a drive into the foothills above the fog were it was 60 degrees and took a hike around Pine Hill.

I'll probably do nothing today because I have bone on bone arthritis in one hip and that hiking yesterday is making my hip ache today. This is dependent upon how well the acetaminophen works this morning. If it works well, I just may decide to go make my hip worse, because, I'm a little slow about these kind of things.

I might have misunderstood... your 2.5 isn't a duratec but from mid '01 on the 4 cylinder option in Rangers was a 2.3L duratec...

Mowed more poplar leaves and raked them into the burn pit, then aired up the tires on my old wheelbarrow and dumped the dirt from it into some dips around the burn pit... Then put the forks on the tractor and moved some stuff from the driveway to by the pond so it can be with nature, then moved a pallet of wood scraps to the shop so I could pull the nails and staples and turn it into kindling... I think we're set for kindling for the rest of the year...

The plan was to deliver the F-250 to mom's house so it would be easy to transfer to brother-in-law later this week, then do another thanksgiving with more family.

The first part of that derailed before it started. Really started going bad yesterday, but I was still hopeful. I'd put it on the charger yesterday, because it's normally hard to stary after sitting for several days and it's been sitting for a few weeks. Well turns out that my charger was no good, bought a new one yesterday afternoon and let it run overnight with the block heater plugged in also. Well this morning it was showing a full charge, but would not start. To be more precise it wouldn't crank. Little bit of quick troubleshooting and it looks like I might have a starter problem. Not something I want to have to spend money on right before giving it away. I'll pick up on diagnosing in a day ot three. Hopefully it will turn out to be a loose wire from when I had the starter off earlier in the year.

Aborting that plan went to get mom and we headed over to family gathering. Got stuffed on thanksgiving dinner again. After a nap we went and did some impulse Black Friday shopping. Been wanting a bigger toolbox to organize my tool and shed, and provide a work surface for doing stuff. I'll throw that up in the tools thread. Dropped it off in dad's shop for the time being since I need to clean out a space in my shed to put it.

Tomorrow I'll either get out and clean up the shop, work on the F-250, or sit on my back side and enjoy the last day of the long weekend before work starts back on Monday.
