Twas a good day today.
Spent some time visiting with mom. Last weekend was opening of firearms deer season so didnt; get around then. She was gone off with extended family for most of the week or helping my sister with fall festival stuff at her school (she's a 2nd grade teacher). Finally got a chance to get over there when she was home today. Turned out to be a great day for it cause I also got to see an aunt, some cousins, and my sister and niece.
I may have mentioned it previously but her and dad had a 24 foot camper that she wasn't going to use with him gone. It was too big for me solo, and my sister prefers to do Air BNB. Was kind of worried about it sitting around and getting damage from exposure and wanted to get it sold now or first part of next year. Well it went today. Very easy sale, turned out that my aunt wanted it even knowing all the repair work that dad earlier this year. She owns 18 acres outside town that my grandma built a house on, and she's been living in the house with her. She wanted both as her own space on the land, and as a camper that her and her grown kids & their families could use. Tried to get mom to keep the money, but she's stubborn, wouldn't hear it, and split it between my sister and I. Looks like I've got a little starting capital for when the F-100 restoration begins (hopefully next year), or maybe use it to find a camper that fits my needs better.
While we were getting that hooked up and loaded up the carburetor for the little 2300 generator came in, so got that installed.
@SenorNoob I couldn't tell you if it was the cheapest from Amazon or not, but it was the only one with Prime shipping. , swapped a couple of pieces from the old carb, poppet it on, pulled the cord twice and it was purring.
When pulling the plastic casing off, one of the fasteners for the side panels is a bolt into a square nut. The square nut slots into the bottom pan and it was sipnning, looks like the plastic slot cracked from the bolt holes and was spreading. I had to rip it out to remove the panel. Knowing that the generator was going to be G2G, I mixed up some JB Weld and glued it back into place and left that to cure over night. Probably go back over Tuesday after work and putting it back together.
Next project will probably be the Kawasaki 300 4x4. Looks like the float valve in the carburetor might be stuck shut on it. I'd drained the bowl when I was over there last week, and left the fuel turned on to the carburetor when I left. When I opened the bowl drain today I got a single drop out of it. Pull the feed line off the carburetor and it flows good out of the tank. Makes sense why I couldn't get it to run the other day. To quote Carl: "It ain't got no gas in it." Unfortunately that thing is buried down in there, so going to need to figure out the right wat to extract it.
