i went to work and then drove hte wife to her doctor's offices so she could request all her records be sent to her lawyer. opm denied her medical retirement and the when she called and asked 4 or 5 lawyers and asked questions trying to find a representative, each one said they cannot believe she was denied and they all thinks its from the gov shutdown because all of them say they have met a bunch of people who have been medically retired for the same thing my wife has, epilepsy with grand mal seizures and anxiety that makes it worse since certain types of lights cause her to seize. and stress causes her to seize also, and being a girl building turbine engines means she always has some jackass dude that wants to make comments to her about where she should be working, or a supervisor that thinks girls should be in a different shop
and after dropping off that stuff, we ate at lubys and on the way home watched a white kia try to cut across two lanes of traffic and get t-boned by a crew cab full size pick up. it looked terrible when the pickup threw the car around like nothing so me and another guy jumped out to check on the car. the truck driver jumped out and was yelling it wasn't his fault and stomping all over. the kia driver front door was crunched in and all the air bags deployed, and the truck lost the grill and all his air bags deployed.
i ran to the kia and pulled up the driver airbag (window was smashed out) and asked if the two people were ok. they said they were, just shaken up. i let them know we already called 911 and to sit tight and relax.
some other people ran up and were trying to break the door open and get them out, which is not good but no one was listening and the cars stopped on the road because of the accident were honking and yelling for everyone to get out of the road.
the white kia was blocking the center turn lane and a grey honda had also tapped the white truck when the truck was rolling slowly across the two lanes of opposite traffic and that girl was just sitting in her car. there was only the oncoming lanes and the one lane between the grey and white cars so i cleared the car parts out and was directing traffic through because a lady in a ram and a guy in a honda civic had floored it between the wrecked cars yelling and honking and the rest of the cars were trying to force their way through and i was worried someone was going to get hit.
so we got traffic moving safely and the truck guy seemed ok as he was just walking around grumbling that it wasn't his fault. the other people in the kia were on the side of the road sitting in the grass and seemed ok but i still think they should have not been taken out of their car.
the ambulance and fire truck showed up first. the ambulance pulled through and parked just past the grey car and, thankfully, the fire truck pulled across the lanes just in front of the accident, so cars had to go around now. the police showed up last and parked behind the white destroyed kia.
after the paramedics and fire guys checked on everyone and we told them what happened, they let me and the other guy go through because they had the scene covered now.
i don't know the outcome but i hope those two kids in the white kia are ok. they got hit really hard. their car got spun completely around and the door frame and driver front door are completely destroyed so i know they got bounced around all over inside. the truck driver will be ok, for sure, and the grey car girl was fine too. she didn't try to stop when the truck crossed into our lanes and hit him behind his passenger front tire but at a very slow roll so i think it just tore her license plate and mount off.
either way, that was my day yesterday
