What did YOU do today?

Got the tractor and both 5' brush hogs home tonight, spent a little time trying to get it going, I think the petcock on the tank was just plugged, blew air backward through the fuel line and it flows good now but I think the kill valve in the pump is stuck in the off position since no fuel is coming out the injector lines...

Palm tree trim and mowing, didn't expect to prune as much as i did. Ranger took it like a champ!

Next episode in "boats are spensive", today I ordered a gallon of "bilge paint" to paint the decking for the boat which I picked up this morning. I should be able to get it cut to size this weekend and get the boat washed again to rinse out the gunk and such... paint will show up Wednesday or Thursday so I'll hopefully get screws by then and be able to get the floor in... Got the foam stuff today too...

I decided to fix the mower deck tonight, of course in the driveway since the shop is full, the spindle wasn't broken but a bolt head fell off instead so I'll be able to salvage that spindle eventually. Of course the area around the 3 mounting holes were about to fall off and one did fall off so I had to pull out a welder... got it back together and it mows just fine again... should have put new blades on but I wasn't that committed tonight...

Started off going to a few garage/estate sales, got a couple good things like almost 3 gallons of hand sanatizer for $5 (I have a wood stove, works great to start fires), got a couple useful shop things but nothing really notable... picked up some Diesel Clean to run through the new to me tractor while in town... after we got back I mowed the back section that's more riding mower territory than tractor then jumped on the tractor and moved everything I have on pallets and such that I haven't moved in a year so I can mow under it... moved about everything but the parts Camry and the project Ranger so far. I also spent a little time trying to get the new to me Ford tractor running but the injection pump is a bit gummed up, seal kit showed up later in the evening so I'll work on that tomorrow. Of course it was like 90F out today so progress was slow. On the 2000 tractor I did fix the seat, it was pretty jacked up and needed some welding which is now done, need to try to break a couple bolts loose to move the seat back a couple inches to be less annoying but progress is progress...

Actually Friday, but helped my sister move. 3rd floor apartment. I'm still recovering and gotta be at work at 8pm.

There was a break in the rain. So, I got a bit more of the carport taken down. It's not looking good to get more done today.

Washed my 2017 KR.

I almost finished vacuuming the pool before it started raining.

Decided to make those two trees that I uprooted with the Ranger yesterday a little more compact and easy to handle. Grabbed the trusty Poulan 2150 chainsaw and topped off the bar oil and filled it up with appropriately mixed 2 cycle fuel. And the bulb primer disintegrated in my hand...

sooo... ordered a tune up kit from Amazon for 8.99 where I get 2 bulb primers, to things of fuel line, 2 in line filters/ sinkers for the end of the fuel line in the tank, one spark plug and one air filter. Arrives Tuesday. Oh and the spark plug is 3/4", and I do not have a 3/4" plug socket... but luckily I have a deep well socket in that size and the plug itself sits high enough in the head that I can put a combination wrench on it...

sigh...

Dang heat wave this weekend... 90 yesterday and 95 today so work has been slow but I have done things... I wasn't smart so I didn't get going until like noon but I finished the yard shuffle by moving the parts Camry after jumping it with the '97 Ranger then jumped the '00 Explorer with it too so it could be out of the way of where the ford tractor needed to go but before that I had to move the big trailer with the F350... then I moved a couple other things with the tractor then switched to the box blade and moved some dirt. Then moved to the brush hog and mowed where all the junk was in the yard. Then I jumped on the riding mower to mow better in those spots which worked just fine although the belt was slipping until the electric PTO clutch on that melted down and seized solid and stalled the engine...

After that I drug the boat out of the shop with the Explorer and pressure washed inside again to get rid of the welding and grinding goo...

Right now I'm cooling off before I go find something else to do to before I fall over for the day...

I took a drive up to the crest of the Sierra Nevada, then started a short hike up a trail and almost got hit by lightening. It took about 20 minutes for that storm to develop from a few cumulus clouds to a giant thunderstorm. The static from the clouds passing over made my hair stand on end and it got cold. So, I went back to the truck and drove back home.

I got some more of the carport broke down.

The mounts for the high lift jack came in. So Installed that and mounted the jack on the 2019.

I also used some cable style gun locks to secure the fuel and water containers against the honest theives. If they want them bad enough, a lock isn't going to stop a determined thief. I just need to get a padlock with a thin enough hasp for the jack mount.

I have a VFW meeting tonight and a Sportsmans club meeting tomorrow. So not much will get done the next two days even though the weather looks favorable.

I haven’t done crap since I got back from the Ford nationals late Sunday night. Good news and bad news, my arm was working fine for anything I wanted to do, but I really irritated where they did the surgery on the elbow, I’m pretty sure just from it riding on the armrest all those hours. So I’m just letting it recover, going stir crazy watching TV. I haven’t even done my laundry.

I did go on craigslist looking for another diamond plate toolbox to mount underneath the step trailer deck. I’ve wanted a second one, so I want to get one before I go to the trouble of remounting the first one which almost got busted off the truck by a piece of tire tread on the trip.

I have a really nice truck bed box, one of the ones that sits down in the bed of the 250. I got it for only 50 bucks, it’s like brand new, but I can’t bring myself to cut it up to the right size for that trailer.

My maximum length is about 40 inches, and the maximum height (lid depth) is 14 or 15 inches. Keep in mind that is mounted sideways, with the hinge side facing down so the door opens like a shelf. I saw a couple for $50, and offered $30. I could cut them up and make them work.

Fortunately, I had a spare 21 LED chrome 4 inch flush stop/brake light. Half the ride home, I was fussing about having to take the access panel off the back of the trailer to mount it. Today, I was mentally recovered enough to realize I could just pull it out with the three screws, rewire it right there, and screw the new one back in.

As for Lincoln, he is so incredibly happy to be in his own house, his own room, and with his own toys, in his own bed (which used to be my bed). He immediately had his way with the cat in the hat. Next time, I should bring “her.”

I have a lot of plans to continue thinking about the toolbox, watch tv documentaries, and what it will take to disconnect the trailer from the truck, and mount that tail light. It might take till next week or the week after…
