What did YOU do today?

From the local wrecking yard today I scored the mandrel bent 2¼" exhaust tubing from a 2017 Ford Police Interceptor Unit (PIU) Explorer ST to be used in the fabrication of the dual exhaust for the BII 4.0l dual 2¼" exhaust; also using two Flowmaster 200 series cats and two Borla ProXS mufflers.

I am not exactly certain how everything will be plumbed, there is only room for extreme creativity. The current plan is to stagger the components as follows:
• driver's side cat 1st
• passenger side cat next
• driver's side muffler
• passenger side muffler
I am not yet certain if they will exit before the rear axle, after the rear axle, on both the left and right or both out the same sides. I am sure that if I were more intelligent, I would settle for an improved flow single exhaust...but I am not.

I think they call that kind of exhaust system “they“…

Why not just use a crossover muffler? Less stuff to find room for. That’s how I did my Ranger and dad’s with the V-8 swaps. No X or H pipe needed for duals and one muffler to make room for.

Yesterday I went over to my buddy’s place he is fixing up for his sisters. I was just going to replace some outlets and switches, run a new wire for the fridge, basic stuff. Instead we uncovered a disaster and a half. We now have electrical, plumbing, and framing issues to deal with. Fun fun. That house should have burned a long time ago…

Slowly recovering from a bad fall. Broke a rib or two methinks. 🤬. Went to throw out some garbage,,, the wood deck steps were very wet, I had crocks on with no traction, very bad choice. Feet came out right from under me, went straight up and landed on the edge of the step, striking left side of my back. If it was the center of my spine, it could of been worse. Luckily I wasn't seriously injured or paralyzed I suppose. One of my shoes almost landed in my neighbor's yard. What a shit show. F.. k my Life. Ice and Ibuprofen are my best friend currently. All you can do for bruised ribs I heard.

Lesson learned, wear good traction shoes when it's wet out going down stairs...

I love my crocs... but they're the worst for traction. I've fallen a couple times. I'm getting to old to be doing that any more.

not going to be a fun weekend for me, last couple of days water pressure has been fluctuating when running, like when the toilet refills after flushing or the stream from the sink doesnt stay steady when running. Logic says “pressure tank” though Ive never seen one here. I went to go under the house for another look and theres water, under the whole house, about 2” deep. Bought a couple of pumps from harbor freight, a standard replacement sump pump and a surface drainage pump (you just fasten a garden hose to it and plug it in, drop in desired spot-$150 though-ouch!) The surface pump only does so much so tomorrow I will be crawling in the water to replace the sump pump and hopefully find the pressure tank. It aint in the house so has to be under there somewhere, I just dont know where it could be. Follow the plumbing I guess. Lovely end to the year-not.

Today was empty out the F-150, load a couple things, and hook up the big trailer. Things have happened and this can’t be pushed off anymore, so soon the newly used cab and frame for the F-150 will be coming home. The non-rotted to crap cab and frame. I’m still not entirely convinced on how wise this project is, but parts are coming home anyway. I’m gonna have to find a way to start really moving because a lot of things have to happen before the F-150 can come off the road to start the rebuild. For better or worse, things are happening.

A bit more on my buddy’s place, I didn’t end up taking any pictures yesterday. I had intended on shooting some video, but that didn’t end up happening either. I had to deal with one particularly sketchy bit of wiring (two porcelain base lights that were screwed straight to wood and powered by lamp cord wired as sketchy as you could possibly imagine down to bare wires against probably 100 year old lumber with the insulation on the lamp cord disintegrating rigged into a tiny electrical box with three old MC wires with the cloth covered wires inside, oh, and another bit of lamp cord cut like a foot out of the box with the end wrapped in electrical tape), then find the breaker and eliminate a wire that was cut off and the end taped just hanging out in the basement, and then I bumped a wire in the breaker box and it straight snapped off. In addition to all the other problems discovered. It straight turned into a real train wreck. It‘s all entirely fixable and I know how to do it all, just not what either of us needed right now. I’ll grab some video, if not pics when I get up there next, sometime next week probably.

Drove down to uvalde from leakey and than back. While there i saw the memorial for that teacher and all thoae kids that got shot last year. Man, what a horrible deal. Everytime i see that i feel so bad for them

Oddly they weren't mine, I threw them on quick , my son's. Epic Failure. I didn't know they had no traction. Hard lesson here. FML

My brother in laws F150 had his heater core explode in the dash and piss hot coolant all over the cab while on the interstate. So I helped him fufu in a new heater core. Had to make a work around for the fancy quick connect plugs that disintegrated taking it apart.

My other brother drove his F150 into a ditch and hit someone’s house. Not a straight panel on it, front and rear suspension completely trashed.
Shame too, was single cab short bed with a 351 and 4wd. Super clean nice truck that our grandfather give him. He’s going to cry himself to sleep about that one for a while.

What year is that 150? Guess that happens when you don't do proper maintenance and or use shit coolant.

You are a very good man, whether you are getting paid or not. The Lord notices….

Yeah, I certainly try anyway. My buddy had a home inspection done, which said everything was fine, and didn’t have me come look at it before buying. I keep telling my friends to have me look at any house or car before they buy it and I’ll tell you what problems I see, but nobody takes me up on it. Then I get to come fix things. I was just intending on changing some outlets and fixtures and maybe run a couple dedicated plugs for like fridge and deep freezer. Drink some beer, eat some food and hang out like we always do and get a few things done. Now it’s become a problem and we are going to have to work things out. Kinda just bad timing more than anything. But that’s life. I’m not even really upset about it, I mean, I was struggling with being upset when I was doing it, but by the time I was done for the night, it was like, eff it, it’s all fixable so why be upset.

Ditto here, brother from another mother….

It’s an early 2000s with a 5.4. Had the orange coolant. I expect the coolant has not been changed, but I expect that the seam on the heater core just got weak and started leaking.

Over 20 years and over 200k miles. Stuff happens.
