What did YOU do today?

It’s an early 2000s with a 5.4. Had the orange coolant. I expect the coolant has not been changed, but I expect that the seam on the heater core just got weak and started leaking.

Over 20 years and over 200k miles. Stuff happens.

Preventive maintenance, flushing the system etc , would of definitely stopped that fiasco from happening, no doubt.

Crawled underneath the house through the water & changed out the sump pump, didn’t trust the drain for it since Ive had issues with it before so ran the discharge hose out the foundation vent and into a gutter leading away from the house. Looked for the pressure tank but none there, contacted the company that put the well in and apparently it has a fiberglass tank- buried outside beside the well casing. Grr! And I thought it was dumb to put it under a house. This is dumber! They quoted me 2K to change it out, I called a local company and they can do it for about half that-plus put a metal tank in the crawl space & remove the bad in ground tank. Just not sure when they will get to it, holiday weekend and all. Im a lot less stressed than I was, put some fans on underneath the house to help things dry, Once I got a pump going it didn’t take long to drain my swamp. Oh, and the dead sump pump just had a bad switch connection, technically still works but not like it should. They must all have a short service life, by the pit there were 4 other old, dead pumps that had been changed in the last 25 years this place has been here,

Ice packs on my back, ingested some Advil, Tylenol and watched some college football.

I went out and hit some trails down by Chatanooga with some good friends. Was an awesome day. Hit Reels Cove and Blue Suwanee. On Whittwell Mountain. Great overlooks and some pretty rough trails. The Taco lost a bumper corner and the 4runner lost 4wd. Dag gum Yotas haha. Ranger did great.

I had neither a big block or a 8' bed but I did manage to get this hauled home to start building a sleeping platform in the back of my Ranger.

Well I don't either. That's about 2.5 hours from the house. But if I wanna do anything more than dirt roads I have to travel at least 1.5 hours away

Oh look, it’s another dirt trail in the NJ pine barrens… where a 3’ change in elevation over a mile of trail is normal. Driving on our pothole infested roads is more like off-roading than the woods around here.

Took down christmas stuff today, tree had stopped taking water some time ago & was really losing the needles. One whole room in the house is just christmas storage, its rediculous but she likes it all. Starting to rain, yard is really soggy.

Today I took the DRZ to a place called Bone Valley ATV park to ride. It was a blast, but a guy went around a corner too fast and put his bike down in a swampy mud pit. He wrecked his shoulder, I’m guessing something is broken; he couldn’t move his left arm. I helped him get out of the mud and some guys with a winch on their atv pulled the bike out. He hitched a ride with them back to his pickup.

I learned that after the 40th Truck Nationals when I took the road ranger up near the George Washington Bridge to see my brother and busted the rear axle. Horrible roads
