What did YOU do today?

I just drank my first of many glasses of "blow out your colon cleaner". After of course taking two laxatives. All in preparation for letting some stranger shove a camera up my pooper tomorrow at high noon.

FUNTIMES!!!
the worst part is in recovery when you awaken to a bunch of doctors in total awe looking at the screen.

anything else we can help you with?:icon_thumby:

I've had at least 3.

I'm about 5 years away and definitely not looking forward to that day either. To get back on a better subject...

Remind me what size this shop is. I know I've seen it before, but I don't remember and I'm liking what I'm seeing here. Dad has one of those cranes as well. Set up to mount on his flat bed trailer. Very handy. Used it to load up my spare 5.0 I needed to do the rebuild for my 99. Essentially used it like an engine hoist since the engine and transmission were mounted on an old first gen frame.

Today I did... nothing again. :(

Exhaust shop did not get to my Ranger last week. Headed out to the hunting club Friday evening for the weekend. Sat morning my gut said no. No as in I might be doing a Uncle Gump impression if I went into the stand. All was well sat afternoon, but got no shots in. Had three does run past me wide open, something spooked them behind me and all I saw was the white flag bouncing across the bottom in front of me. Pretty sure it was the *** with a loud exhaust and louder sterio ripping down the road a few minutes earlier.

Woke up this morning and dad wasn't feeling great so I stayed in bed. If I'd gotten up and hunted he would have too, and he doesn't need to push it if he's hurting. Got home around noon, ate some lunch, then it started raining.
It's 36'x48' and the loft is 8' on the west end. So far I used the crane to get my janked up belt sander up there (the belt drive pulley is bad, need to look into getting a replacement, it's on the list...) and for good measure I put a cinch strap on it and lifted myself which was interesting but I was able to see the deflection of the post and it moved a bit but then stopped so I need to put something heaver on it and observe from the loft to be sure... The face side of the plate got 1/2" lag bolts and the back side of the plate got 1/2" threaded rod all the way through the 4x4's and the center one went through the 2x4 top plate for the wall. I'm not sure it'd be sufficient to lift the pallet of engines I've got in the shop... it's got two 2.3L's and a Toyota 2.4L as well as a 4406 T case and I think a 1354 T case... If I doubled the cable it should be able, would definitely test things...

I’ve been working on and off lately on editing videos and getting stuff set to upload to my YouTube. Been kinda sick and it’s been miserable outside all cold and snowy so it’s been a good excuse to sit inside and get this done since I’ve really been putting it off. I finally have a functional computer and some editing software on it so it’s been happening. It’s also a bit of a stupid time suck, there’s a lot of reviewing clips and trying to organize them and whatnot. Which I knew it was going to be and part of why I’ve been putting it off so long. But yeah, my channel is getting rebooted and videos are starting to drop. Go check it out and subscribe, lol.

Youtubers that DGAF will tell you that interaction, positive or negative is a plus for the Youtuber. Youtube only cares about clicks and comments. It/they don't care what is in it. So, do like Notarubicon and egg the haters one. Apparently they can't resist or walk away. So, he wins in the end. LOL

I'll probably be on that plan too. Because they can get more money out of the insurance company, not because of family history. "Hey Jan, this one has medical insurance, think we can get him in ever 3 years?" I swear that even now half my doctor visits are just so that someone can bill the insurance.

I know of a couple on that plan and I'm pretty sure one of the people I deal with at either the Vietnam Veterans of America or the Associates gets them done yearly. I'm sure that yearly colon cleanse is just a joy to look forward to...

We will see how it goes. Right now I have a bunch of old video to wade through so there’s not much I can do to change those.

But…

I now have three videos set to drop over the next couple weeks and the 19th will drop my frame repair videos. Unfortunately there was no action footage shot for that, but I think I covered some of the work well enough to see what I did.

I went to Carquest (Advance Auto closing sale) to buy some oil and air filters for the Ranger and a Honda Accord. I was able to get a few air filters for the Ranger, and one air filter for the Accord. I also purchased a shifter rebuilt kit for $1.22 and a clutch master cylinder for $11.50 along with a battery charger. After than I went to eat at Black Bear Diner. Then I went home and laid flat on my back. My ribs don't hurt as much, but after moving around the side I fell on feels like severe muscle fatigue.

Spent the first weekend in the new place. Mostly cleaned up and unpacked, still got a bit of this and that to bring over but got all the essentials anyways.

It's an old trailer.. 70s at least.. but somewhat freshened up inside. peaked roof put on it at some point.. heat set at 60 and the damn place sucks down heating oil like you wouldn't believe lol. Between Saturday afternoon and this morning the Guage went down 1/8 of an inch at least 😑 I suppose that's what you get with walls that are like.. an inch thick lol. R value in the walls must not be much.. 7 at most id imagine. Ugh. Hopefully we can get some delivered ASAP, gonna be dry soon.

Budgeting for heating oil is a whole different world concept to us who have natural gas or electric heating for sure since it's bought in bulk (hopefully when it's cheapest) and guess whether it is going to be enough for the season.

We have a guy at work that deals with that. It's been pretty interesting hearing about the whole process.

70% of Maine houses heated with oil back in 2010, but it's down to 50% as of last year apparently. Idk if people are switching to natural gas since the infrastructure is expanding or switching to heat pumps or what.. but there's more energy per unit of oil compared to gas so I feel like the "frugal Yankee" thing definitely applies lol. Our furnace burns #1 so some diesel can be used in a pinch if need be.. at a much greater cost 😑 but luckily for me my dear ol mother is gonna have some delivered for me. Thanks ma! I was intending on running a space heater for the meantime until I can afford a tank but.. electricity ain't exactly cheap.. I didn't wanna open this months power bill and have a heart attack lol.

Is supplementing the heat with a wood burner and option? Codes are different from place to place and having a stash of firewood takes time, storage space, and money. So, it's not for everyone.

Cleaned up the remains of a dog bed. I was laying watching TV and I thought Diesel was chewing on his bone. Guess not. When I caught him he laid down on the shredded bed and looked at me as if he was saying “See, just a bed, good to go, nothing to see here, move along.”

I wish.. it's only a rental so can't be (or rather don't want to be) doing too too much to the place. If it was MINE... I'd have put a wood stove in it before I moved anything else in lol.

I love wood heat. Everything about it.. even the slight hassle that goes along with it. It would be real easy for me to make it free heat too.. living in the woods and all. Some day!

We heated with wood back in the day, the furnace was a #2 fuel oil burner so we tried to supplement as much as we could, I dont think I could do that now. just too many miles on me lol. (55 nxt sun) Where Im at now we have propane, I “pre buy” a set amount in august at a lower rate, usually about $1500 worth. So far Ive not gone over my prepaid allotment in the past two winters & I roll over the remaining balance into the next seasons bill. I don’t remember what the rate was or even know what it is now. Im sure its much cheaper than fuel oil though. Its a bit of a ouch but at least once its paid I dont have a monthly bill like we did at our other places with natural gas.

Yesterday I dug into my big air compressor that had check valve issues and sure enough the valve was cracked and non serviceable but also standard enough I was able to order one from Amazon yesterday and I have it in my pocket right now... The new one is brass instead of steel but that's fine and it almost looks like the spring/valve cap is removeable instead of crimped on but for $15 not a huge deal...

That was about it yesterday other than trying to get a weedeater running for the contractor that helped me out on materials for the loft, wasn't having luck on that but my shoulder was complaining so I didn't try too hard.

Tonight I'm going to put the check valve in and try the compressor and do a little tinkering but not much...

So i did that thing today... ya know... with the thing all up in my thing.

The prep was the worst thing. Things blowin out of that thing like you would have to experience for yourself outta your own thing.

The real thing was not even a thing.

Doc said my thing looked pretty darn good.
