I know that feeling of seeing the lawn and all I feel is "Procrastinate!". Congrats @Rick W on winning an award for your truck in Carlisle.

Over the past two days I have done little but search for parts for Beer Fetcher. I have ordered a new Fan blade because when it was off we saw cracks in the plastic, Ordered a Oil level sensor washer gasket because it is dripping a little since the oil pan change, still trying to find a Oil level sensor connector because the darn thing broke when we had to remove it to swap the sensor over though it still works for now but I want it right, topped off the radiator because the motor burped after all the work we did.

Today feels like a good day to get some of the house work done. Cat box is changed already and house is vacuumed. It's raining here in Ma. so inside work seems to be in order.

When you get older like me, you will learn. I got home, and my grass is at that embarrassing level, but I said the heck with it and put it all off the second I got out of the truck…

Yeah, the grass didn't get cut the same day I got home. The truck got unloaded and things that nneded to be washed got put in the house and things that just needed to dry got opened up and hung or setup to dry over night.

While I do like to keep the lawn maintained, I had no problem pushing it off a day. The only thing that needed hit with the string trimmer was the grass under the fire pit benches and I wasn't motivated enough to dig out the hand operated grass sheers.

My dump cart was breaking apart at the front corners from lifting the back up and flip the cart over to get all the dirt or rocks out. Looked in my scrap pile and found an old folding lawn chair frame. Exactly the right diameter tube and the bends fit great too. Spent a few hours cutting and bolting.

My dump cart was breaking apart at the front corners from lifting the back up and flip the cart over to get all the dirt or rocks out. Looked in my scrap pile and found an old folding lawn chair frame. Exactly the right diameter tube and the bends fit great too. Spent a few hours cutting and bolting.

My work here is complete. A little rustoleum, and it will look like new.!

I attempted to weed whack yesterday but the string trimmer wasn't having it.

The motor was flooding badly. So, I swapped the carburettor for the new spare I had in the shed, dried out the muffler, cleaned the spark arrestor screen, pulled the spark plug to dry that and purge the excess fuel out of the cylinder. It still wouldn't start.

Checked the valve lash and changed the spark plug after checking to see if I was getting spark. I also confirmed it has compression. Still no go.

I don't know what the F@#¥ is wrong with it. So, it's going to the shop.

The thing is about 15 years old. So, maybe it just gave up. It has been used hard a good number of times, doing work it wasn't intended to do.

I attempted to weed whack yesterday but the string trimmer wasn't having it.

The motor was flooding badly. So, I swapped the carburettor for the new spare I had in the shed, dried out the muffler, cleaned the spark arrestor screen, pulled the spark plug to dry that and purge the excess fuel out of the cylinder. It still wouldn't start.

Checked the valve lash and changed the spark plug after checking to see if I was getting spark. I also confirmed it has compression. Still no go.

I don't know what the F@#¥ is wrong with it. So, it's going to the shop.

The thing is about 15 years old. So, maybe it just gave up. It has been used hard a good number of times, doing work it wasn't intended to do.

I really wish I knew more about small engines and had a place to work on them. Dad has a chainsaw that we’ve tinkered with a few times and it still doesn’t work right. It has compression, the cylinder isn’t torn up, replaced the carb, tried adjusting it a few times, new spark plug, the whole deal. Sometimes it runs for a bit sometimes it does nothing. Dad’s old Craftsman chainsaw that’s now mine did that sort of thing to me several years back and I threw it into the back of the shed for a couple years and then it decided to work like new. Sometimes I wonder if they just need to sit in time-out for awhile…

I really wish I knew more about small engines and had a place to work on them. Dad has a chainsaw that we’ve tinkered with a few times and it still doesn’t work right. It has compression, the cylinder isn’t torn up, replaced the carb, tried adjusting it a few times, new spark plug, the whole deal. Sometimes it runs for a bit sometimes it does nothing. Dad’s old Craftsman chainsaw that’s now mine did that sort of thing to me several years back and I threw it into the back of the shed for a couple years and then it decided to work like new. Sometimes I wonder if they just need to sit in time-out for awhile…

And, I no longer have the night tremors and nightmares about little engines buzzing around my head or dragging down to the bottom of the lake….

We have gone to some battery powered stuff, but it’s only so useful. Couple times we’ve either had to cut down or cut up a large tree that is big enough to require cutting from both sides with a 20” bar. Gas powered is just the way to go here, although I’ve been wanting a battery powered chainsaw for trimming and lighter work, plus it would be handy when I’m 70’ up in a tree cutting out the widow-makers.

Understood. Now that I’m past nationals, I don’t have any really big truck/auto modification plans, just some deferred maintenance that doesn’t have to be done at any particular point in time.

Having said that, I’m far behind on some home maintenance from when I was sick and injured. I absolutely hate it, but I’ll pick away at it.

I have been fortunate that I have never lived in an apartment for my entire life except a short time in college. But when I look at all his house work, it’s looking more and more attractive every day.!

been bored since 0530 .we actually haven't had work since around april. its very sporadic, like maybe 5 or 8 minutes a day of real work and the rest is just sitting on the internet watching for trouble calls from the mechanics.

I have a Milwaukee M18 weed wacker… I’ve never had an issue with it not starting. There are some things that battery powered just make sense.

If it was just at home, it might. There have been times when I've been out running one all day, helping out at the sportsman's club, the VFW, or a friend's place. Rechargeable just doesn't work then, especially when I should be runnning with a brush blade but don't have a blade or the bicycle bar to keep the thing under control while using a blade.

I have a few places around here that can work on them. I just don't want to pay the shop rate, if I can help it. Most of the time, it isn't a problem. This particular tool has been around for a while and been asked to do more than it's designed for on multiple occasions. I've got my money's worth out of it. I'll stop buy a shop that is on the way home and have them look at it to see if they can get it running again or if it needs to be put out to pasture.

I sold my Ranger for full price to the 1st person that looked at it. I'm truck-less at the moment. I will never use FB Marketplace again. It's worse than CL with people that don't bother to read the ad. One guy wanted to trade me straight up for an untitled dirt bike.
