What did you do to your Ranger today? (Part Deux!)

Was having a good time hitting my neighborhood ditch line when I noticed an Amazon EV van buried in the sand down a road next to my house that everyone gets stuck down. Decided since my rear bumper isn’t done or even fully bolted on I’d use the winch in the front bumper. Winch was going great until it started pulling my truck towards the van. I foolishly tried backing up in 4lo while the winch was tight and compressing the front suspension hard. Got the van moving and pow! Front hub killed itself. Oh well these hubs are old and I was being dumb.

what’s the best hub out there now? All I really see is Mile Marker or china brands on Amazon.

let no good deed goes unpunished…

I’ve pulled them out at least a dozen times a long with a bunch of other idiots. The neighbors have even put big signs up that say “Cation DEEP sand” lol

maybe get a plow for the front instead, and after the second or third time someone gets stuck, just cover up the rest of them

You should put up a sign that says "free beer". Think of the cash you could make.

Should have done that when a bunch of local PD got stuck, a long with a fire t

I have made a few bucks here and there, never from delivery drivers, but from other random people who are stuck. It’s not even that bad I can usually cruise down it in 2wd unless it hasn’t rained in a few weeks.

If they are anything like the PVH on the 98-00 in terms of manufacturing, don't pay extra for the MM ones. They are all the same quality.
I guess one benefit to the MM is the usually have a good warranty. I've taken pieces of my broken MM hubs into O'Reilly, and they have given me a new set. Still, I could have bought 4 sets on eBay for the same price as the MM.

cool I was looking at the 4x innovation hinge, probably gonna end up buying a whole ready to weld kit maybe theirs. because I’m too lazy to go buy metal. I also only have a grinder to cut stuff and it gets old blow through death wheels on these projects.
So, my preference has run to using a port a band saw (the Harbor Freight one is nearly identical to the Milwaukee) and getting good disks for the grinder. I gave up on the cheap disks. Diablo brand blades are what I run in pretty much everything including the grinder. I’ll use some other stuff for the grinder like Metabo brand or anything but China made. They last easily 3x longer than the cheap ones.

Someday I’ll have a plasma cutter. I do have a oxy/propane and oxy/acetylene torches, but I’m not as good with them as I’d like to be. They’re also both kinda limited as to where I can use them until I can get a garage.

I remembered the other company I sourced my tire carrier components from and thought I would share...

I imagine that would be almost as bad or as bad as Armor-All on a vinyl bench seat.
Worse. Much worse than Armor-All on a bench seat. Some dealers dang near dip entire vehicles into a vat of the stuff. I’ve almost bit the big one trying to get in and out of trucks that have everything hosed down with the slippery stuff

Well that’s good to know, I might return the MM set I bought and keep the Chinese ones. But first I’ll do a good comparison of them.

I’m big on quality wheels as well, usually buy a bulk pack these days. I’ve been wanting a portaband for awhile and have highly considered the HF one. Might have to just bite the bullet already.

Sweet thank you I will check them out.

New eBay find...
