Well, among other things that got half-accomplished today, I finally got the fill plug out of the drain plug on the transmission on mom’s 02 Explorer. It’s an Allen key thing and of course it stripped so today I managed to wedge an easy-out in it after a couple failed attempts and get it out. I have something to say to the engineer that thought this was better than having a dipstick, by the way…
Anyway, I was hoping the fluid would be low. Unfortunately, it appears to be at the correct level. Which tells me that most likely the 1st/reverse servo gasket/O-rings is likely the problem and it could stand a band adjustment. Also unfortunately the tap sockets I bought apparently don’t fit to adjust these bands so I guess I have to look for the correct socket when I go looking for the other parts. I really didn’t want to have to deal with this right now because I still have to deal with the transmission on my green Ranger.
