What did you do to your Ranger today? (Part Deux!)

Moved my rear hanger as far back as I could.

I'm excited to see what leaf springs can do. I hope to keep up with my coil spring friends...

There sure isn't much room to move back there...

It appears you found ALL of it.

My 2011 rear differential now has a drain plug.

And I discovered that I narrowly missed getting a flat tire at some point.

Friday I parked the Missing Linc on the front driveway, which is pretty steep after they “fixed“ the road, facing in/down. I rarely park anything out front.

Sooo, when I got up for church today and headed out, there was a nice little grease spot under the rear end. So when I got home, I pulled it in the back and checked the diff level. The level was fine, but once I was underneath, it’s obvious it’s been leaking for a little while because there’s a little oil spray around the underside of the truck in line with the universal which was also wet. So I ordered a pinion seal.

I once again ask the wise ones to chime in on what I need to know when I change out the seal.

God forbid they should all work okay at the same time…,

I bought some components... did my own thing.

The double shear hinge is pretty nice... and a bit spendy. 4x4 innovation I believe is the company.

I got a Destaco latch... rubber bump stop and the spring pin from another company.

The bumper is an AOR.

cool I was looking at the 4x innovation hinge, probably gonna end up buying a whole ready to weld kit maybe theirs. because I’m too lazy to go buy metal. I also only have a grinder to cut stuff and it gets old blow through death wheels on these projects.

Some good ideas here, but it might be hard to drive with that Jack location.

The trick to not including the jack in the build is to tighten ALL the bolts before a thousand mile road trip.

Getting close to finishing my rear bumper. Anyone have any advice on other things to do to it? Pics for bonus points

My first thought was the license plate. Cops may not like it hidden under the bumper and hitch. If you mount it to the top left of the hitch, sticking up, you could kill two birds with one stone: keep the cops away, and it would cover up the dent in the tailgate.

Seriously, is it a 4WD? Are you worried about approach angle from the rear? If not, you could weld a couple half inch rectangle studs on the bottom, drill them first, and put a couple of shackles there.

You could drill three-quarter inch holes in the bumper, and put in some the hi lo marker lights?

Are you going to match it on the front?

You can buy some of the self stick, diamond plate treads, black rubber, trim them to the top width’s of the bumper, and put them on the top.

Also, you could hang your license plate off the bottom on a couple of S hooks, so it wobbles back-and-forth, and then just use an LED strip across the bottom of the bumper to light it.

Maybe a color scheme and some matching mudflaps like my junk pile…
