What did you do to your Ranger today? (Part Deux!)

tail light wiring hell....via rat......er mouse infestation.

they (rodents) built a hut that spanned across the top of my original light switch which is a worn out pos on its best day.......it only operates the running lights as the headlights are on a different system....so i been nursing it for years.. holy hell that mouse nest got smoldery in a hurry.

i knew there were some bees in there again....i spray and spray...but its a rusted pos...and bees love rust holes...and it sits alot as i dont get home much and dont have it with me obviously....lil bob drives his car mostly.... anyway...the lil stinging squatters would poke their heads out from under the dash bezel and around the vents to stare menacingly at me driving down the road sometimes....and occassionally drop on my feet here and there trying to get me to jump out and dance.....i wonder if they are entertained by that?...it is what it is....i just deal with it.

so ...in the panic to get to the smoldering issues when i was hooking up trailer wires....i had forgot about the bees....and...apparently they think they are allowed to bite and sting the fawk out of me when i go rummaging through the dash blindly crushing their huts trying to put fires out....

so i discovered bee spray also works as a fire extinguisher...at least the crap i was using.

now... the plan was go home....marital relations....grab bronco....go back to work...

driving truck and hooking trailer up to truck was most certainly NOT on my a b or c plans...

but somebody.......had to buy a crotch rocket..... and well.....that is a different story.

the good news....i hillbilly hacked the wiring up to get them working better then they have in a long time....even with the trailer... the bad...i have all new wiring to do it right...no time.

some day.....

some day.....

What is the TRS drugs and posting policy?

Nothing big today. Going over little things on my 85 BII resurrection. Fuel gauge not working. New everything. Disconnected all the wiring to it. Tested good. Reassembled and now the gauge works fine. 10 gallons in, says under half a tank with a 23 gallon tank🤔 Ghost in the machine? IDK. I would rather be luck than good.
it was a bad connection....when you worked and cleaned it.....its a workable connection......for now....

and then....when you least expect it.....

When you were under the dash working on that switch, what color was the sky? Was it one solid color, or was it moving around like a bowl of soup? Were there polkadots? Stripes?

What is the TRS drugs and texting policy?

well....its burning man week...sooooooooooooooooooo

you have to eat the drugs before you get into a machine.....no drugs eating while driving.

you can not text until you eat the drugs......no sober texting....

at least that is how i thought it could have been...maybe...in my tiny little mind...if i was a burning man....man...

Plus, it's a seniority thing. Those with more TRS seniority have more privilege concerning "posting under the influence" .

But, in reality, Bobbys post was very coherent and sounded like normal, sober Bobby. If I had the energy to do the things he does....

Wow.

it can be confusing i see.

both the bronco and the ranger are at home. i was driving a 250.

i have more then 1 trailer....i have two motorcycle trailers and a car hauler....

i was literally just planning to go home and snag the bronco....and head out....and my car hauler was converted to a box trailer....so there was going to be some huffing and puffing besides aforementioned relations if i was lucky......but not a big deal.

en route....about half way home.....young bob called and informed me of a situation.

this was going to require one of the bike trailers....which....like the car hauler.... are also modified to do other work...and are not in bike hauling form at this time.

so i was going to have to convert the trailer and make sure the ranger and trailer were playing nice together....so young bob could deal with his shit....

lets just say....i was 20 hours longer then i expected away from the project i was working on....

hopefully that does not muddy the water further.

I was going to attend Burning Man, but I missed it. My friends and I were setting up a little pop-up trailer on the way in for a rest, and the next thing I know there was a big commotion….

I totally understand the seniority thing. At least I did a while ago, but now I can’t remember, but my kids told me I did.

And I totally get it. I think you know, I wouldn’t poke fun at anyone I didn’t think would take it in good spirits, at least, while they were having a lucid moment…

Well, @sgtsandman showed up yesterday and is already hard at work. I was out there but now briefly am here for a quick update. Paul showed up for a bit yesterday but he’s having vehicle problems. We knocked out a good bit of progress yesterday. Dash is back together, rear axle is modified and in place, traction bars are mostly done (I’m missing a bolt right now, but aside from that they are complete), rear sway bar is on, rear shocks are on, rear cab crossmember is mostly on and about to be completed, passenger side frame patches are started, e-brake cables just need hooked to the intermediate cable (they would be kinda in the way at the moment). I have to finish a weld and the crossmember at the very front of the gas tank can go in, then the gas tank and driveshaft.

Still have a couple things to address in the back, a bunch of welding on the passenger side, front bumper to go on, front shocks, bed to go on, and sort out my brake issues. Think that about covers it for inspection so progress is being made. Exhaust shop is probably going to hate me for my modifications but oh well.
