What did you do to your Ranger today? (Part Deux!)

Got it up off the floor enough to get access to the spots where the roll bar frame standoffs need to be welded on. Main hoop and standoffs were already fitted but the holes in the floor were covered up because we didn't have time to finish the project for the 2022 season because I broke the !@##%% windshield just before the first race.

Finally feeling better, but the weather is supposed to be miserable today and I’m waiting on parts so… probably tinker with stuff inside today. Hopefully tomorrow I can get back to making progress on the Ranger.

BTW, anyone happen to know offhand which transmission lines go where on the 4R70? Previous owner at some point had replaced most of the metal lines with rubber hose which made it awkward to deal with so I removed the rubber line and no longer remember which line went where. I want to make up new lines, I have some aluminum tubing and going to throw in an -AN union so that it’s easier to work with than the usual one long run for each. I have access to another 5.0 Explorer so I can puzzle it out if I need to but figure maybe I’ll ask if someone happens to know. I have both the radiator with the cooler and an extra cooler in front

Working on swapping my 86 to the 95 up parking brake pedal and cables because the old stuff never seems to work right. Already modded the pedal assembly and installed that, next comes the rear cables, hopefully that will come Saturday.

Replaced the fog/driving lights on my 2002 4WD Ranger XLT. They still worked after 146,000 miles but one had a broken lens. Geeezery I wish everything on that Ranger was that easy to change!

Well, not the Ranger, but I thought something didn’t look right on the one spring hanger on the F-150 and a close inspection showed cracks starting, so today’s plans got derailed. Shackle, hanger and frame patch later…

Only good news was all the important bolts came right out. The four rust blobs holding the hanger got torched. Oh, and now I’m out of oxygen for the torch.

i ordered one of those headlight kits from ebay to take the load off the switch. it showed up yesterday so i might put it on after work today or maybe after tomorrow morning's bike ride.

i had a similar kit on my 87 wrangler, since they use the same bad set up. what a difference it made! after i put this on, i have to order one for the 03 wrangler and put that on since it is supposed to go back into daily service in thanksgiving

Allowed it to strand me at McDonald's in Stanton, KY. Preliminary troubleshooting indicates fuel pump. Yes, I tried a different relay. Yes, I jumpered the relay socket with a piece of wire. No, I can't hear it run when I turn the key, but there is a lot of ambient noise. Resistance from the relay socket to ground (should be reading through the pump) is over 5kohms.

Neither parts house in town can get me one today. Livvy and I made the 2.5 mile round trip walk to find out.

Waiting for a wrecker. Details later.

Did you make a fuel pump access port when you built your bed?

Yes, I did. I could change the pump if I had one.

But since the closest pump is tomorrow away, there's no reason to spend my whole trip working on it. I can go have fun with the Fun50 once this is on the trailer at the campground, which is only 3 or 4 miles away.

I've had the winch about a year. Finally used it on the trail(er).
