What did you do to your Ranger today? (Part Deux!)

That only changes ride height by 3/4”.

I could see the circumference making a small difference in performance, though. Especially with a small engine.

My first Ranger came with 225/70/15 and when it needed new tires I was appalled at my options, which was nearly non-existent, only street tread, and everything was special order. Back then I decided to call Ford (not the local dealer, Ford itself) and asked if 235/75/15 would be a problem. They said no, so that’s what I went with and never looked back. Didn’t seem to really affect power or anything that I remember.

235's at NTB not expensive maybe not your first choice on tire but depends on your driving needs
and they do free rotations fwiw

Now that I'm thinking about it.

It was a 235/75/16. Larger 16" wheel that I swapped on. so 1.5" taller.

Just tall enough that I ended up rubbing the back of my leg on the rocker getting out when before I didn't.

The power difference was a big difference, but I did notice it.

Sadly the 15” truck tire is slowly going away. More and more, trucks are coming with 16”+. So the demand is going away. Bigger wheels and smaller sidewalls are the favored look for many and that is what the manufacturers are catering to.

I don’t like it but manufacturers are going to make and sell product to the biggest crowd. Not to the margins.

My boss bought a half ton GM with the super manly off road package. Has 22" wheels with a 50 or 60 sidewall ration.

I was busting his balls about having low profile tires on his monster truck, told him that my 2wd ranger had more sidewall then his truck.

Went outside, low and behold less then 5" of sidewall, and I had around 5.5". Funny stuff.

" I'm not going to do any crazy off-roading, I just wanted it because it looks cool." 🤷‍♂️

my full size is 4x4 and came stock with 60 series tires. definitely not giving you lots of room for rock rubs before it tears up the aluminum rims. but its the look of the package that came on the truck. its the mall crawler package, ha ha ha.

Just got back with it from our last camping trip of the year, spent the weekend on the shore of the upper end of Moosehead lake.

Went up Friday, ended up raining 5" throughout the day lol... super glad we got a lean-to site.

By the time we woke up Saturday morning it was clearing off nicely.. and stayed pretty clear & sunny the rest of the weekend.

The view from the lean-to this morning.

Did a little (literal) bush whacking down some old unmaintained roads too, had a couple butt pucker moments and one good "oh God dammit" moment as well....

I'll go more into the truck-stuff part of the trip in my 'build thread'

Well, that didn’t go so well… I knew I was pushing, but…

Went out to work on the Ranger and found the tarp over my tarp shed (one of those zip up temporary kinda shed thing, the roof got tore up and I had a tarp over that) was in ribbons with the wind so I had to replace the tarp.

back to my Ranger. Started doing some figuring to order some more stuff and a little bit of work and all of a sudden started not at all feeling good. By the time I got everything put away and back up the house I knew I way overdid things. So now I’m in a heavy flannel under a heavy blanket and still freezing cold in a 70* house.

btw, concussions suck.

Did you have Moosehead Beer at Moosehead Lake? Very cool lake picture. BTW

Used the 2011 to haul more rock and retaining wall block. At least all the foundations are set now. I’m going through more block than I expected. I had to set some of the foundation deeper than I wanted in order to do it right.
