What did you do to your Ranger today? (Part Deux!)

Fixed several EDC’s, but that didn’t fix the stuttering/shuttering and lack of power.

Cleaned an astonishing amount of filth out from under the toolbox. When stuff starts to sprout in it..... maybe should have cleaned it a bit sooner!

Pulled the hi lift off the mount in the bed to jack up the tongue of my disk. Got fiberglass in my hand from the topper.

Good times.

Bought clear door edge guards. My garage and the retaining walls in my driveway are kinda tight. All of our vehicles get them, along with Bugflectors. No scratches and paint chips allowed on my rides. I just got it last Saturday and already waxed it twice, one coat of Mother's and one coat of RivStar Show Car Glaze. :)

Ordered brake shoes, cylinders, and the return spring thingy that holds the adjustment pawl for the parking brake.

One wheel cylinder leaking, shoes nearly worn out, and the return spring thingy that I just replaced a few months ago.... evidently got a little too hot when my son drove it with the parking brake on, and now no longer has any tension..... Grrrrr.........

Oh well.

They say insanity is hereditary...

... you get it from your children!

They say the pollen count is dangerous when it goes over 125 - 150. In Atlanta today, and we’re just at the beginning of the season, it was 2,045. I’ve been distracted by the legal stuff, no time for the Rick-storation, but now I’m curious to see how many days it will take for the black and the red and the yellow stripe to completely blend under the pollen. This is two days worth:

Pollen is just flowers love dust.

You keep that Georgia pollen down there. We have enough of our own up here in SC and it’s killin me.

Had a catastrophic cooling system failure on the way home from work yesterday on the freeway . Didn't notice till engine started stumbling . Engine died and I coasted to the shoulder . Problem is after cool down , tried to start and sounds like no compression . I'm off the next few days , so I plan on some diagnosis . Any tips or advice ? Thanks

@romcjr

I am assuming it was your 2003 with the 4 L. I’ve got an 87 with that 4 L, got it with a blown engine, and what everybody hammered into me was to make sure I rebuilt it with the updated heads or I replaced it with an engine with the updated heads. The original heads apparently are very prone to cracking if you overheat. Beyond that you need to ask one of these other guys who know what the hell they’re talking about. Sorry for your trouble good luck with it!

I believe the SOHC heads are quite a bit less fragile and prone to cracking than the old OHV engines were.

No, they just like to eat chain guides instead.
