What did you do to your Ranger today? (Part Deux!)

Got the parking brake cables sorted, adjusted and working.

Also drove it town for the second time this year I think and marveled at how much better it rides with the new rear suspension.

Drove up into the mountains yesterday to explore and test the new tires. I now have the overwhelming desire to buy a nice 12v compressor, a shovel, and a winch lol. Would of been willing to press a little further in spots If I could of aired down.

Turned the power on, sat in the Ranger, cranked it until I saw 50psi oil pressure then sat there until I figured out the perfect position for the transbrake button which turns out to be the opposite side of the steering wheel from the line lock(arrow). Also played with the shifter a few dozen times trying to get the new reverse pattern imprinted in my brain. Lord only knows how long before we're able to race again with these virus restrictions but at least I can sit in it and go through the motions(hope I don't start making engine noises LOL)
Still bored though....................

Lousy steering wheel

Torn the interior out. I still can find that damn leak I resealed the drip rails but no luck. And I resealed my Lund visor.

If it's like my '90, the windshield sealant is only attached to the paint on the cab side so the water is going behind the paint, but when I had the roof off I took everything to bare metal and just used rustoleum primer I think...

Installed an in line noise filter for the CB. The constant whine is still there, so not a power issue. I'll try disconnecting the antenna and see if the noise stops. If it does, then I either have to install a filter on the antenna cable (I can squelch the noise out) and risk range reduction or try and figure out where the source is and install a filter on it. I'm thinking either alternator still or fuel pump.

I seem to remember something about the braided body ground strap. I'd inspect clean and tighten that up to ensure it's solid.

Try unplugging the alternator so it's inop…

Didn't think about unplugging the alternator. I'll have to take a gander at the grounds.

Drove it to work and the grocery store. Cruise is surging again, yay.

Also installed my new bedmat, much better crawling around back there than with the bare steel floor.

- thats why I have a sheet of plywood on my bed floor. yes its still a hard surface, but at least its flat.

Drove mine to the car wash (damn birds) and then to work and back. Really need to get some cap clamps, every time I need a C clamp I have to rob one from the truck then remember to put it back.

Took the ranger on an impulse purchase trip.

Came home with a 5k pound winch, a decent small compressor for tires, and a fully welded stainless shovel.

Getting geared up to do a bit of "overlanding" through the north Maine woods this summer.

Keep us posted on your trip!

Might get a block and table for your winch, it might be a little on the light side.
