What did you do to your Ranger today? (Part Deux!)

picked up 2 aluminum wheels from a Canadian salvage yard. they deliver across the border to a place south of Detroit.
15 x 7 and since they are 2010 will fit over 12" brakes. AL54-1007-AB
now it's time for stripping :icon_surprised:

Nice, same wheels I just picked up for my '97, yours are in better shape but I couldn't pass up $80 for a set... got the clearcoat stripped over a week ago but haven't started the rest of the cleanup yet...

Someone on the Facebook 1st gen Rangers group gave me a tip to just make a slit down to the back bar holes and it worked PERFECT. Looks way better than a big slot. Masking paper is from when I painted the flange. I also cut a 6" piece of roll bar tubing with the same angle as the bars and traced around it on the pattern. Thought of that tip myself LOL. Now just a little clear silicone on the slits and around the tubes and we're golden....

I was wondering how you were going to seal it up. I wouldn’t have thought that plexiglass would have had enough flex to pull that off.

It is only 1/8 Lexan so it worked out even though it was a little tricky. I seriously doubt 3/16 would flex that much without cracking.

due to inflation it's time to resurrect $2 dollar bills :temper:
That reminds me… it’s been awhile since I asked for $2 bills, dollar coins and 50 cent pieces at the bank. Used to do that a lot and use it usually when the register operator looked like someone who wouldn’t understand it. I’ve had arguments before. Once needed $2.50 and threw two dollar coins and two quarters on the counter, guy swept them into his hand and dumped them in the quarters slot in the drawer and asked me for another $1.50, I told him he better look at those coins a little closer. Then I got asked if it was real money…

Used the old Ranger to take my tractor's alternator in for an upgrade. Someone did a shoddy 6 volt to 12 volt conversion using a GM two wire alternator. I took it to a guy across town. He did the true one wire conversion for $35. Now all I have to do is straighten out the brackets that hold the alt and get a new belt.

Drove the old one to work, work was slow so I changed the wideband for my afr gauge while I am here.

When you silicone the slots and bars, put tape over the slot and over the holes for the bars, and then use a razor blade to cut the holes back out. Put a solid piece of tape on the backside. Then put your silicone in, smooth it with your finger, and let it set. Then, when you pull the tape off, you will have silicone in the hole, and not on the surface.

My 2 cents, hope it helps!

On the MARTA lines in Atlanta (subway), if you put a $20 bill in the machine for a $3 ticket, it gives you all the change in the dollar coins. I still haven’t figured out how the crooks make money off of that. It’s a pain in the butt

Ranger rear window is D-O-N-E. Took 31 #14 X ¾" sheetmetal screws from Farmers Co-op, a new flap disc for final trimming and lots of elbow grease LOL. Also one recharge on a DeWalt battery. These old hands are stiff and sore tonight......

Also - great tip on applying the silicone.

Gave the 2011 a bath. Not as good as I would have liked but it needed a cleaning.
