What did you do to your Ranger today? (Part Deux!)

Ran new fuel line between the FPR and the carb, looks much better than what I had.

Hooked the battery up and drove it home yesterday evening. As usual, the only constant in the military is change. So, home way sooner than expected.

Replaced a transmission coolant line on the '87 that was pinholing. Couldn't find a steel one so I bent up some soft copper, hope it doesn't react badly with the fluid or something. Found out how easily worm gear hose clamps that size strip out when splicing with flex hose to the old line stubs (I didn't pull the connectors, just left a few inches of line on as it was in good shape at the tranny and cooler).

I only use the truck for hauling remodeling demo a couple of times a month, but I need it so I'm looking for a better style 5/8" hose clamp to use. I saw some what they call single ear clamps but wouldn't be able get a pinch tool in the splice areas.

It's Mother's Day! I took my honey out for a ride in the country, stopping and buying gifts along the way. We went in the Ranger, of course. Wouldn't you?

I took the Missing Linc up to Floor & Decor. Sweet pea wants a new kitchen floor and was looking for samples. I got 2 boxes of the skinny brick to face a mailbox I’m making.

Used the tailgate as a work bench. Turns out I needed 3…

Isn’t that how it always works?

I make my own lines out of 3/8” aluminum tubing from Summit Racing. It’s a standard double flare into the transmission and I’ve figured out how to bulge the end of the line if I’m transitioning to rubber. Also a standard double flare on the radiator side of things. On my green 2000 Ranger I modded it to use an 07 F-150 additional cooler instead of the smaller stock one and since it now had threaded fittings I did -6 AN splices at the front of the motor to make the lines easier to work with and used -6 PTFE braided for the flexible bits of line.

Years ago, before I was this advanced with it, I got 3/8” steel brake line coil from the parts store and made new lines that way.

safety checklist for driving an old truck that has sit up. And checked other ranger to see if by shear luck , I might have any NEEDED INTERCHANGEABLE PARTS. And double checked the fuel tank from my recent cleaning and new unit and filter.

I’m an engineer, duh, I’m supposed to know how to add.

But not sure if the old bones could’ve gotten it done in the 90 degree weather anyway…

Drove up to Omaha to FINALLY sell my Brophey camper brackets. They changed the meeting place to their work and offered another $20 over my asking price. We were already going up to go to the zoo so it wasn't totally just to offload them.

They worked well for what I needed but I am so happy to have finally sold them.

if I need hose clamp that makes a nice tight connection I make my own out of stainless safety wire.

my youngest son loves having the ranger. he washes it and takes care of it far better than he did the wrangler on the mazda6. he said he only washed the others when they were really dirty but he washes the ranger each week. i guess he appreciates having such a nice vehicle that people comment about when he is getting gas or in the parking lot. thats good, i was worried he wasn't going to take care of it

Someday I will give my truck to my grandson. It's a great reason to keep that finish clean and waxed.

Reconnected my swaybar, and took the rest of my aftermarket stuff off the truck. Couldn't find my damn stock lugnuts.. so looks like it'll get traded off with the black aftermarket ones -__- oh well.

Hopefully the check from selling my stocks comes in soon... super anxious to get all this over with and be smiling in a bronco.
