What did you do to your Ranger today? (Part Deux!)

I thought I saw that written up on this forum. Maybe the yellow SAS Ranger???

@Mr. Bossley did you convert from Torsion bars to Coil Springs???

I feel that. They are are for very specific instances.

I use Red High temp on pretty much everything. I have a couple of tubes of Ultra Black, for oil contact areas. I use them interchangeably.

If you squirt a bit of RTV into the cap before you screw it on the RVT seals the cap to the tube and your tube in not all dried up next time you go for it. Ever since someone told me that I have been using the same couple tubes of RTV for years. Instead of buying a new tube every other time I needed it.

I think quite a few of the different products are different in packaging only and the real reason for having the same formulation in tubes with different labeling has more to do with marketing. Black or blue RTV will work just find as a gasket maker on your oil pan. But, adding some catch phrase on the packaging that this one is for oil pans is likely to convince some people that it's going to work better than the other ones. It also works for branding purposes. By increasing the size of the product lineup they also increase the amount of shelf space taken up, and taken away from other products.

I found a few write ups. No one makes the kit anymore but it looks very cool.ost expensive part looks to be the struts

Maybe it was here somewhere, I dunno, I was doing a lot of searching for a lot of stuff and I remembered thinking it interesting and potentially worthy, but didn’t have the cash to plunk down so it got put on a back burner

So it was looking like maybe rain and I’ve been putting off mowing my property for awhile, so I went and made hay with the lawn tractor before returning to my Ranger project. Got the heads all together, got the lower intake mostly scrubbed, got the spark plugs gapped and in, got the headers and valve covers mocked up and that was about it.

i found a kit that looks like someone made it in their garage for the brackets to swap torsion bars to coils. the welds are not great and it looks like a little penetration issue on one of hte welds. but its the only brackets i can find for sale anywhere so i don't know. i will watch them for a while and think about it

Worked on building my air intake system, hopefully one of the last times I'll need to do that

I walked out, noticed the gas tank door was open and walked over to close it and noticed the gas cap was hanging by it's strap, and noticed the gas is about 1/4 of a tank lower than it was yesterday. Someone figured out how to defeat the anti-siphon things in it and siphoned gas out of my truck.

Went and got my canoe with it today. Fits well enough. Juuuust enough roof clearance at the front.

Good to see...

The front of the canoe wiggles around a bit while going down the road, but mostly just side to side. I have no fear of hitting a bump and having the canoe touch the roof or anything on normal roads but if I ever need to get off the beaten path to get to water I'll definitely be putting a 2x4 or something between the canoe and the front rack for more clearance.

Or a pool noodle from walmart

Why not shift the canoe forward a few inches?
