What did you do to your Ranger today? (Part Deux!)

I sunk mine to the frame , not sure if I should try to excavate it, call for a rollback with a winch, or just wait it out a month once its fully dried. Bad thing is that puts us down to one vehicle now. And of all 3, its the hhr. The escape is waiting on rear axleshaft/swingarm bearings. If I thought my ford tractor would get it out Id do it but Im doubtful. A 4x4 F150 couldn’t.

A lever... an upright 4x4 post on top of some plywood and the winch cable over the top of the 4x4. This lifts the truck up before pulling it out.
Fair warning.... I've never tried this in this particular situation.

Lift it up with a tractor jack, pile shit up under it untill it's close to ground level, then pull it out.

Done it before, have pictures as proof.

I have a shorty 3-point boom, I might be able to lift the rear of the ranger (and as a result, adding weight to the rear of the tractor) I might try to see how much chain I have to get the tractor on the most solid ground possible. Wish our old oliver 1650 was still around, plenty of weight, tourque & gearing. You stick that one though and youve got big problems!

Yeah on pics, that was the last thing on my mind, its on my parent’s property, back where some really old implements are. Was wanting to see if the old 8’ double cultipacker was still there. Didn’t realize it would be so wet back there. Drove along the ditch line just fine, pulled into the area where all the trees surround a clearing and it got soupy quick. The extra weight in the bed was no help. Only about 6 miles from where Im living, I could pull the flatbed there with the ford tractor and if im successfull load the tractor on the trailer & pull it home with the ranger. I dont think the ranger wheelbase will fit on the trailer, the tractor barely does. Hope the forecasted rain holds off. If I didnt need to be at work tomorrow for mondays holiday pay I would call off.
Ironically I have no idea if that old cultipacker is there, so much brush had grown up. I hadnt been back in there in about 6 years.

I wouldn't bother with the boom, weird geometry to pull with, tractor will just wheelie.

When I put the silver ‘97 flatbed ranger on its roof, I pulled it over on to its wheels with the allis c. A lot of weight in that tractor. Wasnt muddy though.

I wake up for work at 0430-0500 in the morning. Most times I’m already on the road before the masses (or the snow plows in the winter).

Non-drill weekends, I get to sleep in and get real grumpy if that gets interrupted.

In that case, I'll downshift in front of your house at 0501. If I'm feeling really generous, I'll wait until 0505. Hey, at least I let you sleep in. It may only have been for a minute, but you still slept in.

Got the 400EX in the back of the '90 along with some fire wood to prepare for camping this weekend... drug the big pintle hitch trailer to the house with the explorer with a 2" ball, was in first gear with some tongue weight so it was fine... camper has been on the F350 since I picked it up a month ago, it's almost set up though, got some more setup to do... got the new hitch extension so it's ready to tow with it...

I bought engine parts for a truck I haven't even gotten home yet and might have a siezed engine. I think its worth fixing it even if I end up having to get a used engine for it. Running and driving truck is much nicer than yard art until I can get around to the engine swap part of the build.

Gave the 2011 a bath. Just in time for 2-3 days of rain and a 6 hour round trip to and from North, Central PA. Hopefully, I’ll have enough time when I return home Sunday to bathe it again for the Memorial Day parade Monday morning.

I needed to get all the pollen and bird crap off it though. The truck was almost yellow instead of red.
