What did you do to your Ranger today? (Part Deux!)

Well, POOP. All of the tires I aired up the other day are flat. I was going to move the Ranger this weekend, but now it looks like I'll be getting some used tires put on rims instead. So the truck is sitting with a 205 75 15 and and a 255 70 16. Both on the passenger side for now.

I have a set of of 235/75R15 on the back and a set of 225/60/R16 from a mustang on the front of my brothers truck.

Looks hilarious with the hubs from the 4wd sticking out of the mustang wheels with the low profile tires.

Looks really professional.

You watch that potty mouth! We don’t like language like that being used in the public forums!

Your garbage. You make that outa some trash....... from the trash can..........

The thin coax helped a lot. If it was the size of the larger coax one normally sees, there might have been a pinch problem.

Loaded the 4 wheeler into the back of the '90 tonight to get ready to drive a few hours away to go wheeling in the sand this weekend... tomorrow I'll load the Ranger with 4 wheeler in the new to me trailer and hook it up to the F350 with camper on it... so that mess isn't out in the open for too long I put it in the shop (since I have a big locked area now...), put a piece of 1/2" PEX over the drivers door striker, then realized it's just a touch too big and couldn't get the door open easy so I started trimming on it... then while walking around noticed the rear drivers side shock bottom bolt was way loose, it's tight now...
Yeah, I’ve found the PEX to be slightly big. I’ve sanded it down before and trimmed it down before. The last time I was in a hurry and I just warmed it up with a lighter and slammed the door, let it cool a minute and it formed the latch into the PEX, lol. Closes perfectly now and opens easy.

Got around to installing the fender mount for the quad band antenna. Adjustment is maxed out and still leaves a little outward cant to the antenna but the chances of antenna strikes and damaging the antenna are reduced. So a win overall.

Why didn't you use the antenna mounts that slide into the stake holes in the bed of the truck?

I usually dont do much after a work day during the week, but with the time change & warmer weather Ive been up to a lot. got most of my garage put the way I want, managed to fit the allis, ford tractor, lawn deere and escape & ranger all inside at once. Hadnt ran the allis since november, was good to hear it run again. Wheel horse hadnt ran since october when we moved, it was one of the first things brought over. Its now in the box trailer. Tonight I changed tires on the ranger, put up the 225/70 winter tires for my 15x8 m/t classic 2’s with 235/75 goodyear wranglers. All 4 needed air, were down below 20 psi. Put 30 in, took it for a drive & retightened. It rides so much better, noticeably a little higher when I go to get in. Speedometer is now dead-on correct, was 3 mph slow with the winter tires. (its off by a tremendous amount with the stock 14’s and the original speedometer drive gear) was 70 here today, supposed to rain most of the weekend and be in the 50’s. Guess its good I got stuff done when I did, wont be doing much with it raining. Maybe go on a road trip to look at a woods 3-point mower near indiana.

Replaced front coil springs, gave it a tape measure and string alignment, fixed the exhaust leak from Windrock last fall and installed the wiring harnesses for the new bed. Details in my build thread.

1) I have a bed cap and don’t want to cause a leak.

2) That side of the bed is reserved for a HF antenna. It won’t be as long as the CB whip but will be close.

3) I’m trying to space out the antennas as much as I can to prevent interference from one radio to another.

One on the cowl, one on each rear door lip, and one on each side of the bed toward the tail lamps. The quad band antenna is the only one I can’t get a spring for or doesn’t come with one. So, it needs some protection.

Found some stainless washers at the hardware store. Filed a taper into them and used them to straighten the antenna some more. I’ll have to monkey with it some more but I don’t think I’ll get it much more vertical than I have it now. Tough to get anything done when you have to keep stopping to answer the phone.

Before long, you'll be driving a red porcupine.

If you want a tapered stand off, I have access to a mill, lath, and scrap stainless.... let me know.

I'll keep that in mind. Thank you. While the carport is up, I can't keep the antennas mounted. So, I have time to play with it. The Ranger body is rounder than I thought. I'm going to try and wood glue the washers to the bench. The vise was starting to distort the washers. Hard to get a flat grind when they are trying to curl up on you.
