What did you do to your Ranger today? (Part Deux!)

Put new Firestone Destination LE3 tires on the ‘07. Firestone has an $80 rebate via Firestone prepaid Visa card through November 8th on the Destination series (buy 4), $60 on other lines.

Stuck a starter solenoid on it and Rewired a bunch of crap. New 2awg from battery ground to chassis, engine, and body, battery positive to starter, 8awg to starter solenoid then from solenoid to starter. Made up some more ground wires to replace the engine to cab ground and cab to frame ground since i was at it. Need to get those thrown on but i ran out of time. Starts like a champ now. Fun fact, 20’ 2awg jumper cables are cheaper than 10’ of red and 10’ of black 2awg wire...

Installed a check valve in the fuel line just downstream of the filter. Actually solved a nuisance starting problem in my 2002 3.0L Ranger!

Having installed a fuel pressure gauge, I found that this Ranger runs the proper 65 psi fuel pressure when running. Once turned off, the fuel pressure drops immediately to 20 psi, as it should, but then slowly drops to zero. I understand this a check valve failure in the fuel pump - a pricey replacement. I could work around this by patiently turning the ignition key on and off a couple of times before attempting to start the engine - an annoying process.

So today I installed a gasoline rated check valve which should maintain 65 psi in the fuel rails with the engine off. I installed this downstream of the fuel filter to at least minimize the amount of fuel under pressure. So far so good as the truck starts immediately with a turn of the ignition key.

Moved my bed from the barn to the chicken house.

Ah. A warmer place to sleep during winter months? What did you do to get kicked out of the house?

Got the driver's side airbag replaced at the Ford dealership.

When do we get the recall notice for the side impact ones. My seat needs reupholstering. 🤣

I'm still waiting on a call from the dealer for my driver's side air bag. I might need to give them a call on Tuesday and follow up on that.

Knocked these out after lunch.

Need to glue those pads down at the bottom but theyre on

Looking good Rusty!

Lubed my u-joints and sold my old tires for $70. With that and the $80 rebate, I’ll end up paying less for the new tires than I did for the previous set.

They look brand new. Give it up...what's the process?

And where's that headliner post of yours? I need the same (pretty please).

Depends on how bad it is. These cleaned up with Tuff Stuff and a nylon drill brush. Bad stuff like the arm rest on my console i let soak in a mixture of dawn soap, purple power, and some steam cleaner solution before the Tuff Stuff and drill brush. If you scroll up a bit in the thread i linked youll see the results of my “deep cleaning” process.

Heres the headliner post. I used permatex headliner adhesive to glue it down. Do a little at a time and a 4” foam paint roller works great. Also i should mention its the one and only headliner ive done sooo take that for what its worth lol. Its not perfect.

Got it stuck.

Tow truck driver was a whiney little guy.

I don't think he knew what he was doing. Mild language barrier too of course.

We got it out though.

That’s funny, I don’t care who you are ….😊

Well, Started off the day heading to a coworkers to pick up around 2 cord of douglas fir firewood, then took a walk and checked on the gopher situation and got one with the 20ga shotgun after waiting a few minutes, then loaded up some tools to head off to the junkyard that's having a 75% off sale... Ended up with a pair if BLUE adjustable bulster seats from an Explorer, first time I've seen those in close to usable shape... and for $30 for the pair I'm not going to complain... The rest of what I got was for one of my V8 Explorers, got a BW 4406 transfer case and both drivelines needed for the swap, the drivelines they counted as a 2 piece driveline for whatever reason but I wasn't going to complain for $15 for the pair... The total after everything was $111 and change... I was going to grab a $20 tailgate for the '97 even though it was blue instead of the right color red but the one I spotted a week ago was gone... Oh, and I cut a 2/4 to go in the notch in the bedliner to hold stuff in the front, don't know why I didn't do that earlier... After I got home it was almost dark but I went on another gopher walk and got another one, I haven't had many 2 gopher days!

I also made sure the '90 still runs since I'm taking it camping/wheeling on Thursday morning, haven't started it in a couple months...
