What did you do to your Ranger today? (Part Deux!)

Might even be able to lay the old carpet/vinyl over the top of the new vinyl for the bigger holes. I'd love a vinyl floor but that's pretty much a death sentence for floor pans around here.

I can't speak for older models but the newer models have a plastic backing on the carpet. So, six of one, half dozen the other with trapping moisture. I just hate the cleaning of carpet and the stains. The vinyl floor in the 2019 is soooo much easier to take care of.

I like the idea of using the old carpet as a template. Good thinking. Now I just have to remember it when the time comes....

Well my original carpet was long gone, I had a cab leakage problem for awhile and the floor pan area was soaked, I just cut those areas out with a carpet knife (a few years back) Later I removed the rest of the carpet and just had a bare steel floor with carpeted floor mats. I first put down my dynomat sheets after patching up the floor pans, drivers side was way worse, I then took measurements from the front center of the new vynil to measurements I took in the cab of the shifter and seat belt mountings (yes, you’d normally remove them but I broke 2 torx bits and decided Id just have holes in the vynil for them to go through) . as for the seats- the rear bolts were the easiest, poke a scribe through the bottom of the cab, then using a 3/4 hole saw (with drill in reverse) make a hole at each spot. Front seat track holes were more difficult as those holes are in brackets off cab floor. I found the outer most holes first (nearest doors) then measured to help find inner holes (near center of cab). I no longer had the side threshold plates, were just plastic trim anyways, bought some flat aluminum stock, 1” x 36” and cut to fit for sides and back of cab by back wall. All in all it was about a 7 hour project, Id recommend having the flooring out of the box opened up for a few days in a room thats as warm as possible. The brand of sound-deadening mats I used wasnt dynomat (but I used that as everyone has heard of it) The brand I used is called “kilmat” comes in squares, peel off backing paper, easy to work with and quite effective.

Since I have a standard cab I've been looking for a bed mounted toolbox for a while. Something I can store tools, jumper cables, work gloves, zip ties, Tie down straps, etc....
The truck came with a large Weatherguard bed box, but it takes up way too much of the bed space, it's steel and pretty heavy. Nice box but overkill for what I want/need. There are several options out there, but nothing seemed to fit the bill and anything close to what I wanted was way over priced, IMHO.

Then it occurred to me that my ADV bike panniers are the perfect size for what I want.

All I would need to do is drill a couple holes in the bottom of the Panniers, mount some Rivnuts in the bed and I'm good to go.

Works awesome and doesn't take up much space in the bed. Lockable and easy to access from the back. I don't leave them on the bike all the time so it's nice to make use of them and get one of them out of the way. It's perfect for my needs. I might have to mount the other one in there.

BTW, I made this hook stick out of a broom handle so I can reach stuff in the back of the bed w/o crawling in there.

It stores neatly out of the way in the shell on the edge of the bedrail when not in use....

Some might call this ghetto fab, but to me it's making use of what you have and I really enjoy that.

Nothing wrong with your hook tool... I have an old hoe/rake I leave in the back to do the same thing. It seems whatever I need back there has slid to the front.

Yanked the frame back into spec then had it aligned by my brothers alignment guy monday. Ive just accepted that its not anything i changed that makes it wonder. Gotta be something in the PS system or box.

Ive been sneaking some more work in on cleaning parts as I could this week. No pics right now been cleaning the transmission for paint might be able to get out and do some work in awhile been on baby duty while my wife cleans, it's the only way to get anything done lol.

Cleaned Kitchen

Pulled a big hair ball out of the wife's shower so it can drain (she said she would clean the tub I have my own shower to clean)

Cleaned toilet and sink

Dusted the living room

Swept and vacuumed

I think all I have to do now is mop the kitchen and bathroom floors. Then make some dinner and banana pudding (her request).

Been raining pretty much all day and haven't even been outside to fool around with either of my trucks...

I took a walk around the junkyard (pretty sad, there aren’t many Rangers in the yards right now, they’re all still on the road at the moment!) and stumbled across a good condition passenger side in channel vent shade. $3 to replace the broken one from 2006.
