What did you do to your Ranger today? (Part Deux!)

they uised to... up until I changed theseout only one side lit up. the blue thing is a bulb/ led. Have not checked to see if fiddling with them made them light up again.

Thanks - I'll add that on my punch list of inconsequential things to work on down the road.

Oh, while I'm remembering, anyone that goes to flush their heater core by undoing the hoses and grabbing a piece of "normal" heater hose to slip over the ends to push against a garden hose, you might be surprised to find out the hoses on a '97 (at least, probably most new ones) are now 1/2" not 5/8"... So if you get lazy and just put the 5/8" hose over the barb and flow water you WILL get some water on the passenger side floor... I didn't want to put pressure to the heater core just get some water flow... Luckily it seemed to be only a couple cups in my case...

Well I stoped by the machine shop today, and one head had a 2 inch crack in the intake side, and they both were quite warped, makes me wonder how the head gaskets hadnt blown. The crack was wide enough it was sucking oil into the combustion chamber. So now my rebuild includes buying 2 new heads, there goes my plans fo an rv cam.

I also orderd the electrical connector for the fuel pump, the oe plug was 57$ ,and the aftermarket without pigtail pin it yourself was 11$, I still might just hit up a parts yard to find one, unless one of you beautiful people has one for sale lol. I also picked up 17 gallons of vinegar and a few boxes of baking soda to de-rust the inside of the gas tank

Drove it 800 miles... I miss my fiesta...

That would put you in GA. You didn't swallow the whole elephant in one trip, did you?

I can't afford to stay at no dang hotel! And sleeping in the truck is no better than just continuing to drive the stupid thing... Took 13 hours.

13 hours is nothing. I did 25-26 with a power nap about half way through.

I can see why they put limits on commercial drivers though. Doing long drives like that on a continuous basis is a recipe for disaster.

I followed the same truck hauling rail axles from around D.C to midway through S.C. I would stop for gas, or he would stop for scales but we kept ending up catching each other. I don't know where he started his journey but the last time I saw him at around 8pm he was starting to drift over the line alot... he needed to stop and take a nap...

So did I but a ranger is alot easier to handle than 80,000 pounds of semi...

continued working on my airbox to connect my supercharger to my snorkel using a KIA minivan air filter and some sheet steel. Currently designing the top in CAD (cardboard aided design).

I think it's somewhat releative. When I was young and stationed in LA, a 12hr drive from Alexandria, LA to Marion, NC was a walk in the park on 3-day weekends. I still had the energy to go out partying with friends. Crash on a Sat night and do it all again on Sunday - head back Monday (or Sunday if Friday off).

Many moons later and traveling the country in this RV, it's 4hrs, 5 at most. After that, I've plain had it. I just can't be bothered anymore. That, and I'm no longer in a rush. Truth told, time has taken it's toll on that front.

Well, the good news is you made it.

Attica would have only been 12 hours.

It's normally 12 but I stopped and actually ate lunch and dinner in a parking lot instead of trying to shovel food in my face while driving... I'm older, wiser, and tired of replacing radios. :dunno:
