well it was a very successful mud run on the weekend, the ranger did me proud, exept that i burned through most of my clutch, blew one of my front shocks to shit and now the rear end is knocking, what could this be, it clunks fairly hard when i roll back and then go forward you can feel a violent jerk too...please dont tell me i blew the rear end out of my truck

You might have blown your rear end. My truck did the same thing when a spider gear blew up. The clunking might be broken gear teeth getting in the pinion and carrier gears. Only way to check is to take it apart.

Check your rear driveshaft ujoints first to be sure, but just replacing the axle as a whole unit will cost less, and be less time consuming. Just be sure to get the same ratio. You cam replace it with either a 7.5 or 8.8. I asume you have the 7.5 if the spider gears blew.

Nevermind, you have a level 2 Fx4.

That has a 31 spline 8.8 with a torsen L/S. Could be a hard repair.

Just take the rear cover off drain the fluid and look for chunks and damage on the ring and pinion. You can just spray everything down with brake clean to get a better view for inspection.

shes going into the shop today and ill get back with a report shes getting all her fluids done, and im praying to god its just water in the diff

Water will not cause it to clunk, at least not until it's destroyed something...

well got it back, shes fully locked rear end, doesnt like corners...i think im looking for a new axel

sounds like the torsen took a poo.

yes yes it did, its fully locked...its ok going in a straight line but around corners sounds like its gunna blow and knocks hard, so what do i do now? axel? gears?
