So mine is the second ranger ive heard do this, maybe you can relate. My ranger makes a continuous squeeking noise every time the motor rotates, its ridiculous like squeek squeek squeek, while its at idle. When i accelerate, it eliminates itself. I soaped the pulley belt, its not that, and i cant find where the noise is coming from, other people told me the water pump. Have any ideas?

Where is the noise coming from? I am assuming cam synchro, but it depends on the location of the sqeak.

Have you taken the belt off to see where the noise is in the engine bay?

X2 on cam syncro...

did this like 3-4 months ago on my buds 2001 3.0 ranger. SUPER common, his truck only had 74K on it!!! They are surprisingly cheap to buy.

To the OP:

Buy a $5 Auto stethoscope, put it on top of the cam syncro to confirm that its way louder than having it anywhere else. Cam syncro is on the back of the engine, toward the pass side basically 'between' the transmission and heads, it will have a round black sensor ontop of it.

A crank shaft bearing..........oops!! Look out if one of them goes. Sometimes under a load they will not make a noise and then at idle they do. Something to look out for if you take off the belt and that noise is still there.

Camshafts can squeal as well, but listen real god to the area the noise is coming from.

Yeah I would say Cam Syncro as well.
