what do you guys use ?
anyone use jeffs bronco graveyard superflex (deaver coils)?
how about jeep coils ?
please post pics with what you have.
thabks, josh

Sometimes to much flex is a bad thing. Does your truck have lockers?

yes, i have a full detroit in the rear, and a detroit true trac ?? iirc in the front, and im considering the bronco grave yard coils which are 190lbs linear rate whereas my wild horse progressive rates are like 205/435 or something like that, and they seem to do moderately well on road, desert, and in the rocks.

i would use a TJ or XJ coil.

Agreed, flex is overrated. You need to have enough but too much is just for the ramp queens.

To answer your question though, I run the JD 5.5" coils on my Explorer. 310 lbs/in

I had the 3.5" when I still had the TTB. These are prolly the flexiest coils you will find @ 225 lbs/in.

You can make anything flex though.

wow that looks really good, i wonder if the bronco graveyard coils rated at 190 would be way too soft. i bet those duff 5.5 probably stil handle good on the road to.

the linear 190's are going to be nicer coils than the duffs. Im not a fan of duff products, and especially variable rate coils. As long as you have good shocks and even a sway-bar you can keep it in check on the road.

yeah thats what im thinking allthough the duffs look pretty impresive in the pictures but ive seen my friends duffs in person, and i think they are still just a little too stiff. i wish we could get someone with deavers to post up some pics. that would be pretty cool.

I ran WH coils on my sploder and I thought they sucked. The soft "progrssive" first part was too soft and it sucked it up too quick. Then the stiff part is just too stiff. I installed some superlifts too and they sucked. Then I got some BC linear rates and they were soft and handled well. Flexed sick. Here is some pics with the BCs. I had the longest ones they made mounted with full length f150 buckets in order to get a long coil w/o too much height.

And all that flex isn't so much useful? I would sooo much rather drive it on the trail with some wheel travel rather than with no flex. The lines you can take because it doesn't unload and try to flop or refuse to climb. Totally not useful...

Here is some pics with deavers on my buddies rig we built. They would travel if you forced them, but way too stiff imho. Deaver used to make some that were around 200 lbs spring rate. The ones they make now are like 300. Great for the street. Suck for travel. His is even way heavier than yours.

We replaced them with BCs longest ones. Now it travels and he is not sweating bullets when on the trail. The front end flex is now an asset and he can approach obstacles without compensating for it.

I don't know what spring rate BCs are, but I like em.

8" skyjacker tj coils. They are a bit soft for road driving but they work great in the rocks.

About how much more will these coils lift a ranger or explorer over the EB?

I know its different for each vehicle, winch, heavy bumper, etc...

Is it a couple inches over the stated lift or more like 4" or 5"?

I'm at the point of ordering coils for my SAS ranger and cant decide if I need 3.5" or 5.5" Also trying to decide where to get them is getting a little confusing.

Its a 90 s/c , d44 and 9" from a 77 F150.

Thanks.

the bronco graveyard superflex coils are "deavers" i am runnin the BGY 6" superflex coils and there a bit stiff on the washboard and pot hole's but they flex very well. I will most likely be swithching to jeep coils for a softer ride but might try some different shocks first.
