what coils flex best?

About how much more will these coils lift a ranger or explorer over the EB?

I know its different for each vehicle, winch, heavy bumper, etc...

Is it a couple inches over the stated lift or more like 4" or 5"?

I'm at the point of ordering coils for my SAS ranger and cant decide if I need 3.5" or 5.5" Also trying to decide where to get them is getting a little confusing.

Its a 90 s/c , d44 and 9" from a 77 F150.

Thanks.

I guess it depends a ton on your coil mounting too.

I mounted my f150 buckets at full height to utilize the longest spring possible. Most of the swaps I saw were either using the shorter EB coil buckets or cutting 2-4" out of the f150 buckets. With my full height buckets it was pretty close to the rated EB lift heights- ie. 5.5 WH gave me around 5.5".

I have ford areostar rear coils on my ranger. i spaced them 2.5" above the stock d30 spring pads with the stock ranger buckets. I am getting about 4 feet of flex with them and the stock stx rear suspension and the front was not all the way let out.

Near stock location, Thanks.

im happy with my wirdhorse 5.5's

like it better with it captured though.... flex yes is sometimes overrated... stabilitly is the best, a good combination of front and rear working together, not just one doing alot more than the other :headbang:

wow, all of these photos are impressive does anyone know the rate of the bc coils?

ya there is alot of good flex shots here!

however none are ttb....

mazdamama : really what are the chances that we have somewhat similar truck's in different state's and we both have suzie homemaker clevis's... right in the center of my bumper i mounted one as a joke

i noticed in your second pic you have one under your grill on the core support

i took it off now that i have mounted the winch but i intend to mount it back to the bottom of my winch plate

I heard some speculation on an early bronc site that they were 180#s. I don't know for sure. We tried to ask BC, but they didn't want to divulge the info.

i have the bronco graveyard 5.5 coils in my ranger an my cousin has them in his explorer an i think there awesome. once there worked in they flex good an ride down the road good to. but you just need a good combo of coils an shocks

thats pretty crazy, im gonna put some bigger d rings and the baby one back on after i build my stinger and do some more rock sliders. for a while it seemed like i was doing a lot of the same stuff as kyle m with the green ranger, but anyway its nice to see another sas mazda on here. is it possible your shocks are limiting your travel, it appears like they would, im using f250 shock mounts with like 14 inch travel shocks and they dont touch but if i had more uptravel in the suspension they might.

honestly most of it depends on where you mount your coil buckets. i believe i have about 8 or 9 inches of lift using an f150 coil bucket and cutting about 1-2 inches or so off and lining them up with the bottom of the frame. and i used 5.5 eb coils with a 4.0 liter motor no winch.

no my shock is "perfect length" for the coil's i have just enough up travel in the shock the when the axle hit's the bump stop the shock is pretty much bottomed out maybe 1/2 more of travel at which point i cant even get my hand inbetween the tire and the fender, and before i had good lower coil hold down's the spring would just fall out at full extension.

Drove the truck bout 1/2 mile down the trail back to my house in the poring rain with it sitting on the bump stop cuz i didnt want to get soaked jackin the truck up to shove it back in... at that point i made good coil hold down's and ordered limiting strap's that are still sittin on my workbench
