what buckets are better?

i am swaping in a early bronco 44 into my bronco 2 and im wondering if i should stay with the stock coil buckets or go with the early bronco buckets. i have done some looking around. it looks like everyone is 5o/50. some use the stock buckets and some use the early bronco buckets. also the frame rail on the drivers side is shaped funny. anyone have any imput on what is best. thanks.

You can get a set from James Duff but it's going to cost you...... Depends what coil springs you are using???

i have early buckets from a bronco already but i am wondering if it is easier to use the buckets i have because of the weird frame on the drivers side.
i have early bronco 9in lift springs that i will be using.

The stock buckets should work fine, though you do have to mod them a bit (and maybe the coil itself too) so the coil will sit within them properly, otherwise the coils tend to bow outward pretty bad.

On mine I welded a small tab at the top of the bucket for the larger coil to rest against (I have XJ coils). The same could be done with EB coils if you cut the little "tail" off the top turn so that both ends of the coil are the same.

EB buckets certainly would make for a clean install too though (a pic of the driverside probably would be helpful here).

yeah the drivers side frame is not flat so its going to be difficult to mount the early bronco buckets. i really would like to see some picks of the drivers side.

Just from looking at pics, they seem like well-made pieces... They accept both a stock RBV (TTB) coil or an early Bronco coil (obviously you'd want to stay far away from TTB coils if you want any flex). They also have a dual-shock bracket built onto them so you can run dual shocks if you want.

I have a set of the James Duff EB/RBV Coil buckets.

I am very happy with them. Right now I have regular RBV coil underneath them. They are very stout.

Someday when I do a SAS they will come in very handy, and I won't have ti change them out to run the EB coils.

Also the dual shock option is great, and you can run a single shock if you want (and they provide a mounting location that has traditional eyelet shock mounts on either end, unlike stock). As well as allowing a longer shock to be used.

All said and done, they were worth every penny of the $250 they cost me, as they include all the mounting hardware as well (and extras too).

They bolted up PERFECT, no mods required.
