i just bought a 88 ranger. i think im going to put a 302 engine in it and run 35s just wondering what vehicle i could steal stronger axles from to handle the power and tire size. ive heard of f150 axles work but im not sure . thanx

that depends on how much work and money you want to put into it. 88s came with a dana28 front and 7.5 rear. you can get a dana 35 and 8.8 out of a newer ranger or go with a sas swap and use a dana 44. the ford 8.8 is a very strong axle the explorer ones have 31 spline axles and i think 95 and up have disk brakes.

The D35 & 8.8" from an Explorer is by far the easiest swap, these nearly are bolt-ins (rear just needs the spring perches relocated and shock mounts put on it). The 8.8 rear is same as the F-150 8.8, just narrower, the front D35 is about 95% of the F-150 D44 front with just a locking hub swap.

If you want something wider however, then the set of F-150 axles would be the way to go.

rockwells or one tons you know your gona want them one day anyway mind as well skip the crap and go right to the top and save the money
