I'm in the middle of a front end overhaul. 97 Ranger XLT, 4x4, 4.0, with a 6" Skyjacker suspension lift and 3" on the body. New Superlift pitman arm and Superunner steering system, (soon to be modded to give about 2" more drop) and tie rods. Junkyard steering knuckle, ball joints, wheel bearings, spindle bearings, rotors, pads, calipers. My 9 year old daughter helped me get my steering centered today after I put the pitman arm and center link on! She was super stoked to sit in and steer the truck! Lol! Can't wait till I figure out how to add pics. Hope y'all are having fun too!

Nice project and cudo's to getting your youngster involved. Mine remember those days and can turn a wrench the right way to this day. And they can drive manuals!

Keep 'em involved.

Not knee deep, but my sons 87 5.0 LX Mustang is getting some needed love..

Elbows deep in clutch replacement...I think some yahoo may have replaced only the friction disc at some point... mic'd at 0.322", which is a lot thicker than I expected from how it was driving. Pressure plate fingers are bent, flywheel and p plate are bothe discolored and cracked from heat, there's a race almost poking through on the throwout bearing... which is nearly seized.

Disc has laser-etched lettering on it, which I don't think was standard automotive parts mfring technique in 97... but the rest of the stack looks factory.

Well here's my long problem list my dd has no heat the rear ends for the frame are rotted need to weld it all back up needs tres wheel bearings rotors pads swaybar bushings replace drivers seat (its wasted) clean and paint my spare b2 rims and get decent tires on them for the winter so all my rims will match and fix my dome light
My project truck have a bad set of floats my aod trans won't keep a TV cable tension its overheating its got the worst ever bumpsteer the only thing holding my driver seat to the cab is the carpet radios wiring is everywhere do an Axel swap d44 front 9in rear reroute everything under the hood the right way do and explorer front accessory drive swap buy new headers and get the PS line made change to steel lines from rubber ony trans cooler and change the front and rear bumpers to have better angles and I know I am forgetting a few things but that's all I can think of for right now

Getting elbows deep in rebuilding my 1988 Bronco II Eddie Bauer. Suspension needs work front and rear, rust issues need addressed, interior needs completely stripped and replaced, radiator support needs replaced, 2.9 in need of a mild overhaul is on my engine stand, body mounts all need replaced, and I'm short on time and money.

Trying to get my elbows out of my Choptop and F-150 for awhile to focus on the 88. Once I'm done with all that, I have a 94 F-350 dump in need of some attention and a motor because I desperately need the dump truck for work.

Trying to get this stupid exhaust done on my truck...should have known attempting to cobble it together myself from a bunch of different parts would be a bad idea. Need it done by the end of next weekend because it's getting chilly and the inspection on my car is dead after this month.

And at the same time I'm also trying to put up a fence around my yard...spent all weekend digging holes (thank God for gas powered augers with this WV clay) and setting posts in concrete. Haven't even started hanging fence yet.

Rebuilding a Tracklock in my 8.8 to install in the old beater.

Taking my B2 parts and putting them on a 2wd ranger. Need to align front end, find rear driveshaft, brakes on rear, bleed brakes, cut hole for tcase shifter, and paint truck. You know the easy stuff.

Damn! Everybody's busy! And some of these list make mine look small! Lol! Right now I'm trying to get the rounded and rusted pinch bolts for the ball joints off. Any suggestions? I've tried and a socket won't work, too rounded. I tried my Irvin damaged bolt removal socket, no luck. I even tried heating it and pounding a smaller socket on, just rounded it more. Now I'm officially up shit creek. I have no idea what's next. Help me out fellas!

I was in your shoes... I got one of the bolts out but the other was no luck, rounded off and I wasn't even able to weld a nut on the rounded bolt head to get it out, it was stuck good. So I cut it off in between the ears that it pulls together, pried and pulled the part that was now relatively loose out, and used that hole to line a drill bit up to drill out the other part. Ran a new stainless socket head bolt through and put a nut on the other side. Cranked it good and tight with some locktite on the threads and called it a day. That was about 3.5 years ago.

Well this week we are ending was moving. I need to clear some space in the new garage to work, and then when I come back next weekend I am ripping the engine out of my red truck for my B2. Hope to have the engine out next weekend, do a bit of work to it the week after, and set it in the bay the weekend after that.

Once that is running the black truck looses it's body and gets frame work, cleaning and rust proofing.

That's kind of what I figured I'd end up having to do lil_Blue_Ford. Do you happen to remember how difficult it was too drill out the old one?

IIRC, it wasn't all that hard, just took awhile to bore through all that steel. I ran a sharp drill bit in my big Milwalkee right-angle drill. Used some drilling/tapping lube on things to try to help keep the bit in good shape and took my time. Bought the new stainless stuff through Mcmaster-Carr, I got some stainless socket-head bolts. Since I was able to get one out (and IIRC, they're metrics), I got one that matched the size for what I was able to get out, and bought the other one long enough to stick out and put a nut on. That way I would be using the same hex key on both sides. If I would have had to cut and drill both, I probably would have gone with SAE socket bolts.

Nice! I'm definitely gonna have to get on that quick! Once I get the those out, the rebuild can CONTINUE!!

Replacing all body bushings and torsion arm bushings with poly ones. Hard to do by myself lol. Not like they made them easy to get to. Then trying to decide on tires and rims. My 31's look small to me now, since they only measure 29 actually. Was thinking of going with 32x1150x15 since they'll actually be 31 inches tall and fill the wheel well more lol. And new bushings will probably raise it some too. Looking for interior pieces or paint the one I have. Redo headliner since it's faded and falling. Looking for Dana 35 and 8 inch rear for her too. Lots to do. It's either make her nice again or sell her, and I don't see a lot of 84's on the road. And I've had her since 85 lol.
