What are these objects?

I believe I'm looking at the end of torrison bars, but I really don't know. There's also a metal box about 9x9". I can get an up close pic in the daytime. This pic is from google images.

That is the transfer case skid plate, the torsion bar crossmember, and the end of the torsion bar, yes.
