So. i put a rebuilt engine in this truck over 10 years back then of course the clutch components started to go so i pulled the tranny and replaced the clutch.

Now the flywheel has worn and missing teeth.

Its been a long time since I did this job so im asking for help to prepare.

im going to built my own custom transmission mount to attach to my jack.

Any suggestions?

Also how many engine to transmission bolts are there again? and any tricks to get them out?

This is my only truck at this time so once i start im totally committed till shes all back together!

Thanks in advance.

no tricks really just pull trans (i think about 8 bolts to engine).

just a side note i would also do rear main seal and sleeve the crank and replace the whole clutch assembly. while i was at it you really dont want to pull trans anytime soon to do any of above....just my 2 cents

Have one of those hydraulic line disconnect tools for the slave handy. That connector can be a real bitch or fall apart in a few seconds. Don't rely on a screwdriver buy the tool. They are cheap and worth the trouble to have one ready. Also- have xtra transmission fluid handy or leave the driveshaft sticking in the back of the tranny so you don't lose fluid. You'll have to drop the driveshaft but don't slide it out of the tranny unless you have some fluid to replace it. Another trick- if you do lose fluid, pour it through the top shifter hole before reinstalling the shifter, leaving the top fill hole open. When fluid runs out its full. Easier than trying to pump it into the fill hole from underneath. Just don't forget to reinstall the filler plug... And those top bell housing bolts I can usually get with an 18" 3/8 drive extension, a swivel, socket , ratchet and cheater pipe. Have a clutch aligning tool and make sure the clutch disc is lined up with the pilot or you'll never get the tranny back in. Rent a pilot bearing puller if you are planning on replacing the pilot as well. Use locktite on those flywheel bolts. The blue stuff will work don't go overboard with it lol.
