I have a 94 ranger with a dana 30(temp untill i can afford rubicon 44) with ironman 4x4 fab long arm kit. I currently have 4" jeep lift springs in it but the truck only sits level now. I am working on putting a 302 in it right now. The jeep spings seem kind of soft and i would like to around 4" above stock. Am i better off getting ranger lift springs this time for the added weight of the 302 or just get larger jeep springs

Definitely not ranger springs. The softest ranger spring will be above 400 lbs/in. You will want to take the weight of your ex cab plus the 5.0 and find a spring rate that suits your needs.

In my explorer with a front gvw of 2650 lbs, I run a 5.5" early bronco spring with a rate of 310 lbs/in. It drives great both on and off road.

the rubi dana 44 runs the same weak point, the others, as the d30. the only real difference is the ring and pinion. look at the differences before you go spending money on a rubi d44... idk if its worth it. its stronger but has the same weak point. but anyways... lol.

i would say get some lift springs for a zj (grand cherokee), they are usually a little stiffer than other jeep springs but not stiff enough to not have flex. the eb springs mentioned above are really good to (probably the route i'll go with my d30 swap).

early bronco as in 60s with dana 44? and will they fit the buckets of the jeep dana 30

as far as my truck goes too, its moslty a daily driver but what is the weak point on the axle? I know the dana 30 has weak shafts and knuckles but i am only running 31x10.5 15 on it. What makes the rubicon 44 weak? It uses larger spline shafts doesnt it? and larger ring and pinion along with heavier knuckles. The max tires i will probably run will be 33s

heavier knuckles (maybe?) but same joints i think.. i'll have to look it back up for sure. i dont want to lie to you... so. lol. if you're only running 33's you'll probably never need to swap for a rubi d44..

i did a full width sas on my 94 ranger. im running 38 in. tsl's on a dana 44 front axle with deaver coils. i had a lot of flex and breakage issues with the radius arm setup so i ended up 4 linking the front end. still wouldnt flex. the coils i got from jeffs bronco graveyard and they were the lightest rate i could find at 300lbs. per in. with how lite our trucks are u cant really find a spring lite enough that will give u the ride height and massive flex in one package. thoise deavers are too stiff for the weight of the ranger toi make them compress. i had to have custom coils made from pohl springs. they have a 140lb. rate and they make em to keep ur truck at the desired ride height even tho they are way lighter.

that 302 is going to make that d30 the weak link. go for the d44 as soon as u can

but.. the rubi 44 aint what he needs for the 302 IMO, he needs a f150 d44

couldnt agree more. i have a 79 high pinion dana 44 with arb and 4.88s. pretty solid axle

i want it... i'm looking into a d44.
the d30 will hold anything i'm gonna do. but i'm gonna look at a price comparison of building it. funny thing is i just augured how the d30 will work for me yesterday. now i'm looking at a d44. i don't retract my statements tho.. a d30 is about equal to a d35 ttb in my opinion. now the d44 is a whole new game!

i went full width front and back. makes my ranger look mean. and i have more stability when im crawling around with the wider wheelbase

the 70's kinda suck if a guy doesnt know how to fab. they have those damn radius arm wedges on the axle that have to be removed or incorporated. i got mine for 200 bucks but had to put 1500 into it to get what i wanted. pretty hard to break that axle with a 4.0 v6

i'm trying to figure out if the f150 d44 is gonna cost A LOT more than setting up a d30 for me or not... if it's about the same price wise, i might as well do the d44

ur right about that 30 tho. my buddy has a dana 30 under his cherokee and he thrashes around just fine. hasnt failed him yet. that ttb suspension is garbage in my opinion. thats the reason i did the sas. kept spending hundreds at les schwab to keep my tires wearing right
