I have these speakers in this box.

I had an older sony 2 channel 435 Watt peak power amp running them that finally bit the dust.

I have always heard that running a smaller amp that the subs are capable are isn't good for the amp and I think that is why my old amp died.

I was just looking for some examples of what you guys thought I should get. I'm not looking to spend a whole lot but I also don't want to get some junky off brand amp.

What do you guys think I should get?

Any thoughts?

I have an Orion Cobalt 500.1 in my Mustang. It puts out good power. I'm running one sub though with a DVC in parallel, so I'm running it at 2 ohms. I don't have experience with two subs running off of it. Here are some features:

Features
# Cobalt Series Monoblock Single-Channel Class A/B Car Amplifier
# RMS Power Rating:

* 4 ohms: 175 watts x 1 chan.
* 2 ohms: 250 watts x 1 chan.

# Max power output: 500 watts
# LED power indicators
# Selectable bass boost (0, 6, 12 dB at 44 Hz)
# Single channel operation
# Speaker-level inputs
# 1 Pair of Preamp RCA outputs
# Heavy duty aluminum alloy heatsink for optimal heat dissipation
# RCA level inputs
# Screw terminals
# Damping Factor: >150
# Variable low-pass filter (50-500 Hz, 12 dB/octave)
# CEA-2006 compliant amplifier
# Frequency response: 20-20,000 Hz
# Dimensions: 8-1/8"D x 11-9/16"W x 2-1/8"H

Here's a refurbished one for under 100 dollars.

Then again, for another 10 bones, you could get the 800.1 which pumps out another 150W at 2 ohms here (not refurbished either).

i have those same speakers and a fosgate punch 450.2. Mine are 12" single 8 ohm voice coils so they're getting 225 watts per. sounds pretty good. just to let you know they can handle the extra power. buy a cheaper amp around 750 watts or an expensive 400 watt probably put out the same power just get a reliable brand and the kickers will work out nicely for ya.

either a clarion, (their amps use less power and are amazingly efficient. we ran 2 in a stock pt cruiser for a year with no problems to the stock 2003 battery or alt.) or get a JL Audio setup. dont buy crap. cus you wont be happy and you will upgrade, and the money you spent will be wasted.
