Howdy all , I am wanting to duraspark my 2.8 . I know I need a non feedback carb , but what do I look for in a carb ? I would like to keep it cheep and simple but if its worth spending the money ...
I guess I need to know what works and what dosn't . For example can a 2150/ 2100 from a 302 run my six with no problem or is jetted incorrectly ?
Any input would be great .

will have my holley 350 for sale soon when i start the tbi swap.

u can always make a metering block for the 2150 feedback

also summit has the rebuilt carb from a 79 pinto 2.8 for like 240. already set up for the 2.8

to be honest with u the best bet would be the latter, not a bad price considering its a holley rebuilt 2150, and there wont be any guessing about the jets or anything else. unbolt old put on new. use the same fuel filter and all. i had to cut my carb studs, get a dual spring return kit/mount, get fuel fittings and hose and cut the factory fitting off. then it was a bitch to finally get running right. im getting worse mpg's then i was with the 2150 and metering block. if i dont go tbi im gonna either rebuild my 2150 and try the metering block again or get the pinto carb

Thanks for the input . I think I'll do some jy diving and see what I come up with for options and go from there . Thanks again .

I got my carb off a 3.8 liter. Ya has some emissions stuff on it that is plugged off but still works good. Just start popping the hoods of some fords and when you do find a carb., make sure it has the 1.08 venturis in it. How to find that out is when its mountd to the engine it will be stamped/casted into the body of the carb by the throttle linkage.

I got a 2150 with 1.08 venturis on my '78 302... and people wonder how they only had 140hp... :icon_confused:

So they did come on 302's anyway.

Well in order to keep the 302 under the hood at those times, they had to dog down the engines a bit to meet emissions standards.

Yeah, I know. They had rediculous compression too. But coming with the same carb as a V6 (in the same time frame) with not quite half the displacement...

How to make it run good?

Hey i have 1985 ranger with the 2.8 and it loads up pretty bad and just gets horrible milage and has zero power, i have heard about the duraspark conversion, but dont know what route would be the best to go. i have a bronco II that i believe has the conversion on it with the holley carb that is a parts rig. Any input would be appriciated. Thanks

I run a 2100 off of a 65 289. I cant really tell you about the gas mileage because i am driving with an a4ld that is so messed up i basically have to make it shift myself.
