I know the week is yet to be over, but enough has happened to depress me some. For this whole week, the entire house has to have the carpet laid. That means everything needs to come out and then put back in when done. That alone was stressful enough. Then, just a few hours again (6-7 pm central). We get a freak super cell storm. Starts as very large rain drops, then it turns to small hail. And I'm praying it don't get any larger. Well, a few minutes later, a very thunding sounds comes out. The hail just got golf and baseball size and started trying through trees. All I could do is stand and watch from the open garage as my Ranger got impelled. Luckily, no windows broke, but I do now have a few small dents in the roof and one on the hood. Not too happy, but better then trying to save the Ranger and end up with a split skull, and a trip to the hosiptal. And it was truely painful to watch.

I'll take a dented truck over a dented skull any day. They make new Rangers every day. You were only made ONCE! Sorry about the truck, but glad to hear you're ok. Friggin hail. We had some here today too.

I had to go thru the same thing in high school, got to watch softball sized hail pummel the cars in the teachers parking lot knowing full and well my Ranger was out there in it too. I was in a portable classroom at the time (we were getting a new shop built) and they ran the storm sirens. Our teacher got on the PA and said "if this is all it is going to do I think we will stay in here":icon_rofl:

Ranger was totalled, 12 dents tiny dents in the hood and a hole I could just stick my pinky through in the tail light. I am almost positive they could have saved themselves the trip and just totalled it without coming out to look at it..:temper:

that hat you wear should protect you!!! LOL!

The hat keeps my eyes clear of sun and rain. Not hammer force ice stones. I know tomorrow, I'm getting a drink or two when I go to Red Lobster. After, I get the insurance guy to give me an estimate. And it better not be totalled, because its still drivable.

Yea, my big hail experience left me stuck in a mud hole with a 2 wheel drive ranger at the end of my tow strap. Well I wasnt stuck, but the Ranger on my strap wasnt going anywhere and I wasnt getting out to undo the strap. Only a few minor dents though. Hope insurance helps you out, and I hope the carpet thing is resolved.

Hail?

That's why trucks are made of steel. Get in the cab so you don't get hurt.

Some people cover the hood with their body to prevent dents. Like secret service guys shielding the president.

It's what happens when you get your testicles wrapped up in your vehicle.

Live free and own a shitbox.

you never know until you try?:icon_rofl:

Trust me, it would be the last thing I would want to try. The hail stones already punched holes through my dad's boat cover canvis. 2x holes through the sheds sky light. A few dents in the Ranger. The 91' Dodge got the biggest dent on the edge of the hood and few little others. Roofing shingles, or at least bit and pieces of them, floated down the roof. And my vegie garden has once again been damaged (last time it was late frost).

At least the new carpet is very coisy on the feet and I have a bed to sleep in with a lot less of my junk on the floor. It could have been worse. A tornado could have wiped the house clean.

And to top it off even more. My cable is not working correctly. Poor tv signal & a trickling internet connection.

Got my hail damage estimate in. Total damage, $949.08. I get $699.08 after the $250 deduction. For such little damage, it sure cost a lot. And thats just little dents, most on the roof. Wonder what a window would have costed. But I should feel luckily. One poor fellow brought in a brand new Chevy Silverado, it was so riddle with dents and broken glass, the insurance company wrote it off as totaled.

As for I what I should do. I'm pocketing the money. The dents I can live with and are just minor. I know the Ranger is getting old, but will still last until death does one of us apart.

Sounds like Calgary in the mid 90, and my Neighbor bought a brand new Chevy 2500 and a 35foot trailer a few days before, they didn't total the truck, but they had about $10 000in damages to it, The trailer was totaled, and just about everyone in Calgary got a new roof. I was in my room, (I was about 12-13 at the time), and a hail bolder came threw my window, and I wasn't going to try to cover it. Just the way it was coming into my room, I couldn't get to the door without being hit. That was scary, and of course, my window was the only one that broke. I guess, the gods just don't like new Chevy trucks.

i must be a god!lol, i hate chevys.

That sucks man, but it always could have been worse... We had a hailstorm come through several years back and I watched from the dining room as 3/4" hail rained down. I promptly started whining about my poor pickup being out there, and my parents yelled at me that mine was the only one with relative protection (it was under two huge maple trees) while their vehicles sat out in the open.

Dad's '89 F-350 took, IIRC, one lil tiny ding. His '94 F-350 took 3 small dings.

Mom's '02 Sploder took probably 20 dings, maybe 30.

My Ranger got beat to hell. My hood nearly had to be replaced, took around 50 hits. Roof took another 20-30, tailgate took three, bedside took 4, fender took one, and my aluminum cap was beat so bad insurance bought me a new one.
