wet bottem on front diff.

i was under my truck today changin oil and noticed that the bottem of my front diff was wet with gear oil checked the level and it is good. is this normal cause i have never noticed this before should i be lokkin to replace the seal? what does something like this run and can i do it my self?? also i noticed that the front drive shaft has about 1/4" to 3/8" of play (turning driveshaft like it would be turnin while driving forward and reverse) is this normal or should i be concerned about this too?
