Wenches?

I forgot about those speedometers that only went to 85 and 55 was circled.
I wonder when the last year for that was?

Seems like 93 or 94 sticks in my head.

Somebody borrow me a 1st gen 2.3 to chase these 2.9/3.0 racers!
I may not win but ill be smiling like hell after 3 rev limiter shifts!

1st gen definitely does NOT have a rev limiter... I let mine sing. I have to keep it in 3rd gear up to 65mph or so to keep it in its power band when I'm getting onto the interstate and keep it in 4th to maintain highway speed. It's awful.

Having owned quite a few 2.9 trucks and a couple with 3.0's, I'll vouch for the 2.9 here. If they didn't have the head issues, they would be one of my favorite engines - just a great combo of power to displacement in a light vehicle. Can't knock the 3.0 much though, they were quite reliable.

I've got an '02 2.3l... I'll probably be ahead of both of them.

I have a 2019 2.3, will that work?

Maybe somewhere between a 90s front end and a 80s tailgate....

So did 2nd gen have a rev limiter? I had an 88 2.3, that my dad had replaced the motor in around 1995 with another motor. I've wondered if it wasn't a 2nd gen as it never felt like a wimpy 90 hp. Oh except when it had bad u-joints. Wouldn't do over 55 mph.
I just definitely recall running it to a rev limit (no tach). Although I'm guessing now that rev-limit must be ecu based. So it must have all been in my mind :P

Mines feelin pretty good.
