Well... I've started my drop!

It's goin...

The paint stripper worked great! It's a citrus based stripper , it's the color of a Creamsicle and smells good enough that I was really tempted to taste it but after I saw what it did to the powdercoat... na I'll pass!

I have to pick-up some odds & ends tomorrow on the way home from work, then I'm all set. I have to remember to get some before pic & measurements... I'll wite a sticky note right now....done

later

Now right there is a perfect example of how people get the same thing accomplished even though they think entirely differently. I would have tasted the paint stripper & if it worked on my tongue, then I would have used it on the paint over-spray next....but that's just me.

Edit: my wife got one of those little girlie-dogs....man do those bacon treats smell gooood.

Sounds great Pat - looking forward to this build - good luck with it. If you put as much attention into the assembly as you did gathering parts and ensuring their quality - she will be something to be proud of.

doorgunner - :haha: enough said - I have no comments other than ROFLMFAO . . .:icon_rofl:;missingteeth;:icon_rofl:

No turnin back now!!!!

Well... I've started my drop!

yea no turnin back no for sure. Ran into some stubborn fasteners but nothin some 'PB' and a 3' cheater bar couldn't overcome. I couldn't get the bolt that holds the radius arm to the beam off, I got the nuts off, but the bolt is soundly rusted to the beam. So I just removed them as a unit. I'll bring them to work and some heat and a press will make quick work of it... I hope! The only thing I sheared off, without much force at all, was the lower shock mount studs on the radius arms, both sides, and I was careful on the second one!!

Well... I've started my drop!

Just something else to make this week at work. Maybe I'll make them out of stainless!

Here's the 'pile o' crap' that was removed. I'll spend this week going through it cleaning, inspecting, renewing & replacing.

Well... I've started my drop!

Tomorrow I tackle the rear. I've had that apart last fall replacing the spring mounts so I don't for see any problems... But I still have 1/2 a can of 'PB' and my buddy (3' cheater).

Nice... gotta love NJ salt and rust! It looks good so far, keep the pics coming!

:yahoo:

Finally we get to see progress . . .

I made my truck help me with my "king pin" bolts by putting the small end of the beam UNDER my rear tire and letting the weight of the truck hold the beam while I used my now busted torque wrench (cheap shit anyway) to break them loose. Worked like a charm :icon_thumby: too.

Nice progress so far, keep it up and you will have a show worthy suspension.

2old......gooood pics.....snack time!....somebody get that little dog away from our..er..ah... my snacks

Edit: Hazmat....saw your avatar in Nam in 1972!

Sundays result

Well... I've started my drop!

This is the results of a couple hours work yesterday. My neighbor came over to play and we made quick work of the rear. Then some company cane over and I had to stop to entertain, It was a welcome brake ... i was rather sore from Saturday...I haven't done stuff like this in some time.

20ld-----loooking goooood! Keep the Brownie (& Aleve) nearby.....

Edit: that's the only good thing about an engine oil leak.....once I got all the sludge washed off the chassis----it looked nearly new----not bad for 100% humidity in Louisiana 360 days/year for 20 years

You beat me to it with a citrus based stripper, I did powder coating for 2 years, and that proves that DJMs stuff isnt coated too think, Alot of stuff we had to redo had to be stripped 2 or 3 times, or the powder burnt off in a fire, Powder is actually porcelin based so some strippers wont touch it

Looks like you me & chvlfrk are all workin on the same end of the truck right now.....
